unless we already have a replacement, why create more holes on the roster?
What are we really losing? The man isn't a good pass rusher. Again if the price is right I take a change on a new player coming out of the draft rather then having Floyd for one more year.

you are losing depth. it might not be a big deal if Vic and crew have someone they like on a PS squad somewhere as i think the difference between floyd and lynch isn't enough today but unless you like Fitts or some of the other project guys too you are giving up something

It all depends on the price. Would you not give him up for a potential day one starter 2nd round pick player? If Floyd is only good for depth then he's easily replaceable...
Unless a team offers crazy compensation, like a 1 or a 2+, Floyd will be given every opportunity to prove himself. They will pick up his 5th-year option. Pace gave up extra to draft him, missing on Floyd is another black eye he will want to avoid. The only thing we can do is bitch about him. I tried to keep an eye on him pass rushing the Jets. It was pathetic. He had good discipline in the run game, but never even flustered either tackle.

4 years vs 1 year of rookie contract left...
I know what I would choose.
MOTM, you and I were two of the very few posters here who didn't like the Floyd pick way back when it was first made. He's one of those "tweener" types--to small to be an effective NFL edge player but too big to be anything else (like an ILB or Safety).
Pace whiffed badly on his 1st 2 1st round picks, both of which were top-10s.

Ugly
That was one of my biggest concerns with him. The guy doesn't have the strength to be a pass rusher and has to rely on his speed and hands. Take one of those away and he's useless as you can see this season.
If we were going to trade up to get someone we should of got Jack Conklin or even better, stay at the spot we were at and pick up Laremy Tunsil.
Tampa Bay just benched their QB. The problem now is that Floyd is - not only unproductive - he is not playing with a lot of energy. With Mack on this team, he should be playing better this season, not worse. There may be something psychological going on with him. Under the circumstances, I am not sure that we shouldn’t try benching him.

Yeah, its looking more and more like a mistake. Floyd looks like a mid-round talent this year who was drafted in the high 1st.
