If we play well this year Alex it should not be too bad. We can sign a decent edge rusher in FA to rotate with Floyd if need be. We also have 9 games to see what Lynch does.
well, Lynch only has a 1-y contract, so who knows...Acho has a contract for next year but could easily be cut with 2mil saving. Still hoping that Irving can pan out, hes restricted
Irving got a few snaps against the Jets, didn't he? I would give him more snaps. It might serve as a wake-up call for Floyd and/or show us whether Irving can do the job that Floyd obviously can't.
Floyd is only a bad pass rusher due to two possible things... -Personal effort/mentality -Coaching
I personally think it is a combination of the two. There were 3 pass rushing plays that he either gave a better effort, or was used by Fangio better last week. Had it recorded to show here, but i used the wrong compressor and am not going to find them again tonight lol maybe tomorrow.
Either way the three plays were: -A decoy of sorts for the sack by Callahan in the 4th. Sucks the tackle in and frees up Callahan. -5:45 left in the 4th i do believe...a 3rd and 13 from the 37 yard mark. This one he performs the inside stunt like it's meant to be done. Quick, decisive, and on point causing issues. The other inside stunts look slow Af and sloppy overall imo. -1:22 left in the 4th i think lol a 2nd and 10 from the 24 yard mark. This one he shows his outside dip ability, and should have got the flag...but i don't even know if holding is a thing anymore.
Anyway, he can make the right moves, and put in the effort to cause issues, or be the decoy to suck linemen into a specific direction...What the issue is? IDK! but we should be seeing more out of his talent that he clearly still has....
And here is one of Floyd's better inside stunts last week...Not a fan of how he "really plants" his outside foot when making his inside move, but that can be perfected over time.
Since week 9 against Buffalo (7 games), Leonard Floyd has 4 sacks, 23 tackles, 7 TFL, 9 QB hits, 1 interception, 1 TD, and 1 pass deflection.@leonard90flo is making all of his doubters, including myself, eat crow. #Bears @bearsreddit @adamhoge @adamjahns @dabearsblog
just gotta let these guys get the experience they need. 3rd year, and injured most of the 3rd year. Now that he's healthy you are starting to see what he's capable of. Oppo Mack; and he drops into coverage more then Mack does. He's never going to be a 10+ sack guy b/c they drop him so much. But he is capable of doing both well.

Glad we are not the GM. These are big boy stats
Yep. As has been said from mid season on he's finally begun to play at a level that justifies his draft status.
Sunday may well have been his best game overall to date.

If he played healthily and at this level all season he WOULD be a 10 sack guy!

Couldn't agree more. He's elevated his game a lot the last month and a half or so and was awesome on Sunday vs GB. If he continues that and stays healthy through the playoffs, I think Pace has to exercise his 5th year option.
