comparing Watson and Trubisky you have to look at the supporting cast and Watson has had better help. I'm not sure what direction Pace will go and the other Teams, but I have a Feeling it's our turn to be that lucky Team.
Really? So now we should avoid players from winning teams because they have more help? So then I guess Allen is out...because he's surrounded by NFL talent, so he's had more help. All those Ohio State kids drafted in the first round last year....clearly over rated because they had help. Let's not act like Trubisky didn't have NFL talent around him. Elijah Hood will get drafted as will Switzer. Bug Howard has a shot, and his other receiver TJ Logan has NFL talent, and another receiver Mack Hollins has NFL ability but got hurt.
Here is a quote from a writer in Charlotte:
Now for the real question: How good will Trubisky actually be in the pros?
IN TRUBISKY’S ONLY YEAR AS A STARTER FOR UNC, THE TAR HEELS LOST TO BOTH N.C. STATE AND DUKE.
Let's just say I have my doubts. I have watched almost every snap of his college games, and Trubisky still is going to have to convince me and a lot of others that he will be anything more than an average NFL quarterback. Not that "average" is a terrible thing, or an uncommon one -- Cam Newton was an average NFL quarterback (at best) for the Panthers this past season. You stay employed for a long time as an average NFL QB, especially if you have a few flashes of greatness along the way.
But to be truly elite -- to join the Tom Bradys, Aaron Rodgers and Ben Roethlisbergers of the world -- Trubisky will have to be better in the clutch moments than he often was at UNC.

yes, but all the QBs have flaws and Need time and Coaching. You won't get a finished product and if you have that in mind, you go with the guy that has the most upside and if you think said Player will reach their full potential.

Yep, seeing a few of his games. Watson gets bailed out many times by his players. I've seen poorly thrown passes get caught do to the talent around him.

Thats the fatal flaw in my eyes...."upside". Upside said the Colts should have drafted Leaf over Manning. Upside says draft Manziel over Carr. Upside says draft Jake Locker, Christian Ponder, and Blaine Gabbert over Andy Dalton, upside says draft Alex Smith over Aaron Rodgers. You see the problem I have with upside? It ignores this little thing called "CAN YOU PLAY THE FRIGGEN GAME!!!"

Please provide a run down of the poorly thrown passes that Watson has thrown and has been bailed out by his receivers. Go to the game tape thread and provide a specific breakdown of passes you believe to be errant, with the minute mark provided.

ooohhhh.... errant..... We are going to have to start serving champagne here instead of beer.

Manning has had more than enough upside. Rodgers slipped and he did go down the boards deep. I still can see why a Team picked Smith that early remembering back.
It wasn't only about upside why some were picked higher.

No...you are incorrect. Scouts were quoted as saying that coming out of college Manning was as good as he was going to get, that there wasn't room for growth from him. Those are direct quotes from scouts. There are facts, and then there is here-say.
Here is a quote from a scout about Rodgers: "I like him. I just don't know if he's maxed out. He's more accurate than (Kyle) Boller but probably not as athletic. He's a better player than Akili Smith. He's more athletic than (Trent) Dilfer was. He's a little more mobile than Joey Harrington. He had to go to a JC because no one would recruit him because they said he was too small. He's been busting his (expletive) his whole life to get to this point. I just don't know how much more he has to give."

If comparing Alex Smith to Peyton Manning, Smith is the more athletic one. Being more athletic does not mean a better QB though, it just means you may be stronger, faster and more agile. It does not translate to pocket presence, accuracy, reading a defense and calling audibles.
