Let us know your thoughts before, during, after. This should be an interesting thread, or not.
It met my expectations. I think Pace and Fox both presented their case with conviction, both sounded authentic, both acknowledged the shitty season and offered reasons as well as responsibility for it. I thought it was a good press conference and the end result it the expected result. Pace and Fox have another year to turn this thing around.
Pace heaped a ton of responsibility on his own shoulders about getting it right in the personnel department AND having the ability to do that this offseason with a lot of cap room and high draft picks. I think that was the right move.
I think this team has a talent gap that was compounded by the injury situation that resulted in a lack of chemistry between players in many phases of the game and thus losses. I think they explained that well without shirking their own responsibilities.
I imagine 2017 will be better. They might suffer a string of tough injuries again - they might suffer shitty QB play, but they are more experienced in dealing with both of those things and the roster will be better.
Agreed. I mentioned this earlier in the season. Young team rebuilding plus injuries is going to hit this kind of team harder than others.

to sum it up a bit:
- injuries - Cutler will be gone - would like Alshon back - injuries - Need better secondary for sure - injuries - in tact =/= will be here for next year - Pace is smart and it Looks like he is hold back a bit by the Power Fox has - injuries - Injuries - best ability is availability
aaaaaannnndddd it's smart to stay the same in a year all Jobs are on the line. I expect us to draft a QB, but bring in a guy like Romo via trade. Fox Needs to win now and getting Romo and possibly McCoy as OC would put us in a Position to be a 8+ Win Team.

I missed the first 10 or 15 minutes waiting for csnchicago to show the live presser but they never did.
However, I gotta say that Pace is very impressive to me. Very sincere and I really think he knows his stuff. You contrast that with Angelo and it is night and day how he communicates the traits he sees in players, etc. Emery actually did that pretty well also, but Pace is at a different level. I really like him.
He made mention of his relationship with Ted and he really sounded sincere in that Ted appeared to give him everything he asked for and he could not ask for anything else. So I guess we will have to stretch to keep blaming Ted (and of course I will make every effort to do that). The theme was injuries. As expected. However, after blaming everything on injuries (and Fox did every chance he could), Pace did say something like "hey, we won three games so it was not just injuries", so they know they have other issues. Obviously, they know they need more talent and it was obvious he knows QB is a major issue. Sounds like they are willing to work with a developmental QB if he is the right one and have plans to help mitigate and help his growth.
I was watching Fox and he did not say much and when he did it was always about injuries. After seeing this, I believe that Pace is fully invested in Fox -- to the point that he may be willing to go down with Fox as his man if he has to. Pace did make me feel much better about himself, but Fox did not. I can't say that I feel any worse about Fox after the presser, but I don;t feel any different. It is not his fault. He is a victim of injuries and what can you do when you have all those injuries? blah blah blah. I am still not convinced he is the guy to lead us out of here, but I believe more and more that Pace is going to continue to feed him talent and any coach is going to benefit from that. They are going to stay with the coaches because they do not feel they are the problem. I don't have any insight there. I said I am ok with Loggains for another year and I still am, but I really would have liked to see them more aggressive in getting a top shelf OC.
Not much more than that. How about you guys?
My take; Injuries were not an excuse but they were an ISSUE. LMFAO!
They really need some better spin doctors working for them. That was pathetic. I like Pace but again this is just a trumped up not so well scripted Ted Phillips/GMcC dog and pony show. They are still running this team and now it's no longer close to the ground, they've managed to bury it.
Unless they hire a guy to run that team it will never change for long if ever.
I agree with what Spiegel just said on the Score. He said that he liked Pace and really feels that Fox is more of a hindrance to him him than being helpful. I feel the same and don't think Fox is the answer. Fox can have one more year but if he sucks I hope he's gone and Pace gets another shot with another coach.
I pretty much see it the same way
And I've both felt and said the same. Unless he does with him what Elway did and tells him I run the team you simply have the privilege of coaching and I can change that if I like it's gonna stay that way. Fox is his albatross.

Either they held more than one presser and we watched different ones or i missed the parts where Fox took responsibility. Admitedly I missed the first 10-15 minutes, but what I saw was Pace taking responsibility and Fox never going there. Almost seemed to be avoiding it and always blamed injuries and availability. Did anyone else see Fox take responsibility, or am I that subjective. I really try to be balanced and I just didn't see that.
And you never will. Fox is not all that different than Teddy Bears in that both are "survivor" types who will always keep their heads down in a foxhole and let others get there's blown off.
Fox will not replace Loggains because before the season began he insisted th offense would proceed without a hitch just as Phillips and GMcC will not fire Fox because in both cases they would then be held accountable and survivor types will always avoid that whenever possible. They'll deflect blame and defend themselves to the very end or simply hide.
Anyone ever wonder why we never ever hear from Teddy Bears yet he's he President/CEO of the team. He's at the very top of the food chain at Halas Hall yet never speaks. He hides.

Romo is more costly than Cutler, is not a better QB, and for the price of Romo in trade (about what Cutler is worth)you could have a younger prospect like McCarron or use that pick to throw in on a shot at Garoppolo.

Romo is better than Cutler, no doubt about that one.
Think about being Fox, being on the hot seat and if you lose, you will get fired. You have the following Options:
a) never played a NFL game, no experience b) only got a Cup of coffee so far, other than that as a) c) the journeyman backup that isn't good enough to start d) a starter that has some injury Problems and lost his Job to a surprising rookie e) hope for a miracle
What Option will give you the best Chance to Keep your Job and Millions of $$?
It wouldn't surprise me if Fox wants the vet that can win now.

Ya' lost me at #1 gbph. Romo is about the same as Cutler or would be playing in Chicago. He's also no less costly if not more so we gain nothing in cost or performance all we do is trade one vet for an even older vet.
