George said he would be patient with Pace's rebuild and it looks like he's keeping his word. Two years is not enough time to replace old with new and build a good team, especially with the amount of injuries they had. I go back and forth on how I feel about the current state of this team. Sometimes I feel like what you just said and other times I feel they need one more year. It looks like they get one more year so I might as well jump on board and hope for the best.
Not necessarily. This isn't the MLB where you need at least half a decade to get back on track. Two years can be enough to turn around a football franchise.

I agree that in can be and has happened plenty of times before but were those teams doing complete rebuilds or were they just a couple talented players and coach away from the playoffs. I feel the Bears are a little deeper in the hole than some of those other teams. The Bears are trying to rely on more unproven players than I've seen most teams do and I think that requires one more year. If there isn't drastic improvement in the third year then it's time to move on.
In the MLB you can get about 5 years for a rebuild. In the NFL it's about 2 to 3 years.
I think the biggest thing we've seen is that our depth is still not where it needs to be. Should this team when fully healthy be better than 3 wins. ABSOLUTELY! But when you've got guys like Daniel Brown, Matt Barkley, and Cre'veon LeBlanc STARTING for you...man you're gonna have a rough time. Yes injuries are a part of the game, but the best teams are able to withstand them because they have depth behind their starters to step in. We've got practice squad guys or guys who otherwise wouldn't be in the league. Big difference and I don't care what anyone says.
So yeah, this is gonna take a little longer, and we need to friggen stay healthy for once.

One of the bright sides I've taken from this season is the fact that so many lower depth players got a lot of playing time. If the Bears are able to get some solid starters in place then they would have some of the most experienced depth players in the NFL. Just think if they add some more players to the OL and you have guys like Grasu, Kush and Massie as depth players instead of starters. Or how about keeping Jeffery and adding another WR to have Meredith as a rotational WR that can fit in any time. If they can get a good, solid starting core then the team could look pretty good.

Yeah, I think some of the guys like Le'Blanc showed a thing or two, but also showed they need more time to develop fully. When you're a rookie, you're gonna make mistakes. When you're an undrafted free agent rookie you're gonna make even more mistakes. There's an old saying in high school and college football, for every freshman you start it will cost you a game. Thats a bit of hyperbole I think, but has some truth to it. My freshman year in college we started a lot of freshman, and many more played big roles as part of a total rebuild...we didn't win a lot of games, in fact we didn't win any. But the following seasons were much better, some of those freshman became multi-time All Americans, and eventually we won a share of our conference. I also thought Massie did a great job turning it around and I don't really have an issue with him at RT.
We think we KNOW what is going to happen, but in reality we don't. We are just guessing. My gut feeling is that Pace will make a number of moves in this off-season that surprise the "conventional wisdom" people.
Wait....you mean to tell me we don't know whats going to happen?! That we're all just guessing?! I refuse to believe this! LOL
I get myself all worked up about this stuff, and have to remind myself to calm down. At the end of the season I just couldn't shake the bad feelings and anger I had about the Bears. I've finally calmed down. It's a game. I don't control any of this. So why get all worked up over it?
Someday the Bears will be good again. It will happen when it happens. I can't hurry that day.

And here's my next best guess . Although I want them to draft Deshaun Watson in the 1st rd , I doubt they're gonna do that . Fox needs to win this year . He's not gonna trust that to a rookie . So my prediction is they're gonna find a way to get some 'somewhat accomplished' veteran QB in here . That's why I'm starting to believe these Jimmy G AJ McCarron scenarios . What I want is irrelevant . And as long as they get a competent QB here I'll be happy no matter who it is . I just want to see my team have a bona-fide 'chance' to win . So , I hope they get it right .
Either they held more than one presser and we watched different ones or i missed the parts where Fox took responsibility. Admitedly I missed the first 10-15 minutes, but what I saw was Pace taking responsibility and Fox never going there. Almost seemed to be avoiding it and always blamed injuries and availability. Did anyone else see Fox take responsibility, or am I that subjective. I really try to be balanced and I just didn't see that.
And you never will. Fox is not all that different than Teddy Bears in that both are "survivor" types who will always keep their heads down in a foxhole and let others get there's blown off.
I dunno. It's an expectations game and an interpretation of comments but here are the ones that stood out to me regarding Fox taking responsibility:
FOX: "3-13 is not acceptable...the buck stops here" FOX: "I'm looking hard at myself, all the coaches, everyone involved in football" FOX: "Our issue was consistency. It's about playing 4 quarters of sound football...Everything starts with us [the coaches] and how we're prepared. The buck stops here." Fox: "Talk is cheap. We need to make good decisions with [our third draft pick]. Again, the buck stops here." Fox: "This won't happen again."
I think another issue we can put to rest is this ownership piece. Pace took responsibility on that front. Pace stated unequivocally that he is in charge of personnel - completely in charge - no Teddy or Georgy - PACE, so while the urge may be to throw sweat on Ted, Pace is taking the responsibility and I think as fans we need to accept that response as true and not dwell on conspiracy theory: Pace: "That is how it is set up [I am in complete charge of football operations]. I'm confident in this coaching staff...going forward... [ON MISTAKES] I look at myself...Bears fans should know Ownership here gives us everything we need to win games. It's up us to put together a roster to win games."
I also like Fox's comments on injuries and how he explains their effect:
FOX: "It's not so much about the injuries as [how injuries] create inconsistency."
I think this is a nifty angle to look at injuries. Fox is admitting here that injuries themselves aren't a reason to stutter. He accepts - as all football people do "Football is a violent game. Injuries happen..." Fox said. However, when injuries force you to bring in starters off the practice squad or off the street, or when you're starting three different QBs with different receiving members, there are huge issues with incorporating them into a scheme OR altering scheme to accommodate them and then get everyone on the same page.
