Finding a good OC isn't easy. It Looks like "good" offensiv minded guys are becoming more rare.
I agree. It actually is not easy on either side of the ball. A real innovator... a student of the game is hard to find. That is why I love Fangio. I feel like we finally have one on defense. Getting his counterpart will not be easy. I really had my doubts about Gase, but he did in fact seem like a really good OC, but he was only here a year.

Something to think about:
Fox is on the heat seat and another year with 6 or less Ws will end his time here. Why should McCoy want to sign with the Bears for 1 year? Why should the Bears pay him much Money knowing they will fire him earlier

In fact, a great coordinator is probably not going to want to come here and work when it's for a HC on thin ice. A great coordinator has better options than coming to the Chicago Bears under John Fox - and a team without a solid QB. And I doubt we will have a solid QB day-1 this season. It will be some fuzz-faced kid that probably won't know his butt from a hole in the ground for awhile - or a deadbeat vet. I'll bet there is a good chance that Fox doesn't survive the second-half of this coming season if his team begins losing games right and left. He'll be gone by the bye week.
Ah yes...I forgot about the standout Brian Hoyer who also played games for us...and Melvin Gordon underperformed? He averaged 4 yards a carry and had 10 td's. And I must have missed our receivers not going down with injury, or getting suspended along with our starting tight end.
I'm just curious how things that aren't supposed to be excuses for some people are excuses for others. Funny how that works isn't it?
Like I said...I'm all for hiring him, I'm just surprised some of you are.
I'm not making excuses for anyone. As I said earlier, I believe San Diego did the right thing. They were going nowhere with McCoy. I was simply pointing out that several other teams (including SD) have had many key players on IR and yet some of them still have better records, proving that some coaches can do more with less. Fox can't. Period. Not to mention the AFCW was a much tougher division than the NFCN this year.
I'm just tired of listening to all the whining about how injuries were holding us back. We both agree that we need more talent. No argument there.
And quite frankly I'm not sure why you keep defending Fox. He's staying. You guys are getting what you want. You should be happy.

Then why did Gase come here? He had HC opportunities before his year here, yet he followed Fox here for a year to run an offense that could have sank any future HC opportunities. Same thing with Fangio. He had choices...yet he chose to come here over other teams that wanted him as their DC. I think everyone, with good reason, is a bit on edge here. The sky isn't falling.

Except that less was still better than our less. Our talent was never equal to San Diego to begin with, and they didn't have an injury to the most important position on the field, QB, where we had to start a 4th stringer. So yeah, he won 5 games in San Diego...if we had Philip Rivers you don't think this team would have been better than it was?

Quite frankly even .500 should be reason enough to fire his sorry ass. He's already the second worst HC in Bears history. If he doesn't have at least 9 wins next year he's gone.
