Can't believe people want McCoy to be hired here...I mean he did only win 5 games this year even with Rivers at QB. I mean injury is no excuse right...just coach up the guys ya got...right? He's a loser who was only successful as an OC because he got to work with Manning. Or does not apply to him? Just trying to learn who all this BS applies to and what not...so far its yes to Fox and no to Fangio, wondering where McCoy fits.
(Yes....I'm being sarcastic again)
Actually you don't have to be sarcastic because you're probably right. It really looks like McCoy was only successful as an OC because he got to work with Manning.
14th ranked O, 16th ranked D and yet only 5 wins.
Four years with the Chargers and Rivers under center and a 27-37 record overall. It took Gase just one season to do something McCoy couldn't in four years. 9-23 over the past two years (just like Fox), did you really expect him to be back? No, San Diego did the right thing.
However if you really insist in using that BS injury excuse, Chargers have 23 players on IR, Bears have 21. Chargers won 5 games, Bears 3.
Chargers have Rivers...we have a guy who was watching football in September.

Barkley played six games, not an entire season.
Chargers also lost their #1 and #2 receivers in week one, had an underperforming RB and basically no backup RB.
Ah yes...I forgot about the standout Brian Hoyer who also played games for us...and Melvin Gordon underperformed? He averaged 4 yards a carry and had 10 td's. And I must have missed our receivers not going down with injury, or getting suspended along with our starting tight end.
I'm just curious how things that aren't supposed to be excuses for some people are excuses for others. Funny how that works isn't it?
Like I said...I'm all for hiring him, I'm just surprised some of you are.

I'm fine with keeping the hobbit. I know that's not a popular opinion but I think he did a pretty good job given the enormous number of problems this year. He had to work with 4 different QBs, one not even going to training camp. He had games where his no. 1-3 WRs were all out. His line was in constant flux and with the exception of a few games they still performed pretty well. All this in his first year as an OC.
Despite all this our offense was middle of the league. The "lack" of run/ pass balance was likely due heavily to the fact we were usually behind early and we had to pass to stay in it.
I'm not saying he's a genius or anything but I wouldn't mind seeing another year with him if no other obvious candidates are available.

But the fact is he only worked with Manning during Mannings first year in Denver before SD hired him. It was actually McCoy who got the Broncos into the playoffs with Tebow at QB so at least he know how to adapt his schemes to his QB. That could be a huge plus.
Some guys are never cut out to be HCs but still make great coordinators. So who knows but I can't believe they'll stick it out with Loggains as poor as the offensive production was.

This is true as well. Rod Marinelli was an awful HC and Wade Phillips wasn't much better but they are two premier defensive coordinators. Some coaches just can't handle the overall challenges of a HC.

It's just a different skill set. Some guys.... it just isn't for them

Speaking of Wade Phillips with Kubiak stepping down and a new HC coming in it's possible hat old Wade will be looking for work as well and he is a fine DC if things don't go well here with the current situation.
FWIW McCoy will be on quite a few teams lists. Despite his issues in SD he still has the rep of being an excellent OC and they are a bit scarce out there now with many teams looking for one. So he's no look to come here even of we are interested in him.
