That's 4-4 over the final 8 games which I think is about the best you can realistically hope to achieve. The last 8 games are against probably the 5 best teams in the NFC and it is gonna take 10 wins to make the playoffs this year. [BTW, the fact that Washington now holds a tiebreak over us hurts our chances.]

If you go 0-2, the season is truly over. If you go 1-1, the season is hanging by a thread and you need a miracle finish. You're also probably down a tiebreak to Arizona too.

It's do or die the next 2 weeks. We all knew the schedule was gonna get brutal starting mid-November.

As far as Flus goes, his 2025 status is hanging by a thread right now. IMO, he has to win the next 2 games and go 3-3 minimum in the divisional series to make a real case for giving him a 4th year. Anything less than that and I think you have to move on.

I'll give him a complete pass for 2022 and ignore that 3-14 teardown season. Since then, he has only 3 wins vs teams who were above 500, is 2-10 in division, and has had 4 massive Q4 meltdown losses. He isn't getting better at game and personnel management and is still making awful and basic coaching mistakes. He doesn't even own his mistakes in public and you can bet the locker room isn't too happy about that right now. [Blaming Tyrique for the loss like he just did is really weak sauce--TS screwed up that one play but Flus utterly f'd up the entire endgame.]

Unless Flus crushes it the next 10 weeks, it is time to give Ben Johnson a call. Get a real playcaller in here who actually knows how to win and close out games. I'm sick of these 3rd-rate wannabes who get exposed every time they face a real NFL HC.

Matt Eberflus will never be a top tier HC in this league. On his best day he's a mid. They could seriously fire him now and it wouldn't matter a hill of shit for this season. We might even get better.

I am not arguing against your support of Ben Johnson but at the same time I am sick and tired of hiring first time HCs. I want a damn winner. But yes, if we go the coordinator route again, then I want a Whiz Kid.

It has been 18 years since the last Super Bowl. My kid wasn't even born yet. It's been, what, 39 years, since we won one?

I'm so tired of the half assing that comes out of Halas Hall. The half measures, the calm passive media press conference, the small ball moves.

I do believe in Ryan Poles. I do believe that he's done an amazing job building a team, but he screwed us over with the Eberflus hire.

This offseason is a big test for Poles. Is he going to be loyal to his buddy Eberflus? Or is he going to do what's right, fire his ass, and bring in somebody who can win?

And I'd toss in one more thought. Even if the team somewhat rebounds and it is looking like 'Flus is not the worst coach... and maybe even a mediocre coach - that doesn't mean the Bears should retain him. Not at all. If the bar here is set at mediocrity then guess what we'll see for the next several year? Yeah, not good. Not good at all.

I'm hoping Ryan Poles feels a lot of heat because it's going to take that before he parts ways with Eberflus. In fact it may take the McCaskey's feeling the wrath of a pissed off fanbase (like with Trestman and Nagy) in order for them to tell Poles his buddy has to leave.

And I'd toss in one more thought. Even if the team somewhat rebounds and it is looking like 'Flus is not the worst coach... and maybe even a mediocre coach - that doesn't mean the Bears should retain him. Not at all. If the bar here is set at mediocrity then guess what we'll see for the next several year? Yeah, not good. Not good at all.

I want us to revisit some of the arguments about replacing Braxton Jones. If we want to replace Flus, we need to discuss his replacement first. Because as bad as Flus seems to be, he may be better than simply kicking off the typical Bears revolving HC carousel one again. And does that mean we have to replace Waldron as well? How does that impact CW?

I am no fan of Eberflus. I hoped he would have been replaced before this season started. Oh, my Lord, this really sucks.

I think (my opinion) that after the debacle that was Trestman following a 10-6 Lovie team (that we all knew was about to crater), if Flus gets above 500 and/or makes the playoffs, he isn't going anywhere.

Waldron has to go. Now I'm beginning to understand why Seattle was so happy he was gone. Does that suck for Caleb? Yes. Blame the Bears franchise for that... add it to the long list of screwups these past 35 years. It begins with ownership lacking the ability to run a solid franchise. I was hoping Kevin Warren could help this franchise, but he's looking like he's out to lunch with this Lakefront Don Quixote thing, jousting with the lakefront windmills.
