mpbears68 I think you may end up being right about a trade. LOL, someday I'm gonna get something right about the Bears
LINK Chicago Bears Reportedly Monitoring Three Teams On Trade Market
No guarantees of a trade of course but every year there are teams like this (think Bears 2021) that clearly aren't going anywhere in the near term and need to reboot their roster. It also helps if their front offices are in disarray, transition, or are just plain poorly run.
They mentioned the Raiders who are already moving Davante Adams and have no shot in that division without a top-notch QB. Doug Pederson in Jacksonville is on a red hot seat and probably will be fired. The NYG aren't going anywhere and will be moving on Daniel Jones this offseason.
Etc., etc., etc
There should be an opportunity to trade for an iOL somewhere.
What Bears player(s) are we trading for any of these guys? You can’t get something for nothing, unless you are lucky enough to find an idiot GM. I would off-load the Edmunds contract. Davis is probably untradeable.

A trade, if it happened, would prob be for a draft pick. Maybe Kennan Allen could be involved. Nate Davis has zero trade value and neither does Velus at this point.
Usually you're trading with a crap team looking to dump salary for draft capital and cap space to start fresh.

I am not trading draft picks, unless somebody will take #4. And I’m not trading Allen. The guy with some (potential) is Edmunds. He’s never lived up to his $72M contract and that might free up some capital for FA, if he’s not traded for a guard. Either would improve the team.

Don't know what you mean by "#4".
Poles hasn't been shy about doing this the last 2 seasons so it wouldn't shock me if he does it again. If Cunningham gets a GM job, we will have 2-2nds & 2-3rds plus whatever Day 3 picks.
Edmunds has played well this year so I doubt he's going anywhere. He's also still young. Allen I definitely would trade if I could as he's over 30, is frequently hurt, and probably won't be here next season anyway. I think it's pretty clear that Allen was brought in as an insurance policy (Poles had no idea before the draft that a WR would fall to #9 -- we talked about that here endlessly). DJ Moore & Rome are the WR duo going forward--that's where the money and draft capital have been invested.

Allen should be here next year. We just need he and Williams to get on the same page by then. Edmunds is no more than an average NFL linebacker and getting overpaid on a $72M contract. I would trade him for a good guard in a heartbeat. By #4, I mean the 4th round pick. I would use 1-3 to draft an offensive line. Brax and Jenkins currently only Bears OL with 70+ pff grades. Brax has given up least sacks (0) and Wright the most (4).

Allen is a FA in March. I doubt they are gonna pay him.
And Edmunds isn't average and his cap hit is only $17m next year. He and Edwards are probably the best LB duo in the NFL.
