And our coaching staff STILL couldn’t find a way to scratch out a win.
Matt LaFleur wins that game. Mike Tomlin wins that game. Harbaugh wins that game. Kevin O’Connell and Dan Campbell wins that game.
Instead we are running wildcat and cheesy college option plays at the goaline and can’t score.
These coaches are fkn clowns irrespective of the OL issues.
Know what Tomlin did this year that allows him to win that game. Invests in the OL in the draft. Harbaugh would have looked at this roster and refused to come. He's not dealing w/an all time great def and an OL so bad it cannot function at anything in a positive fashion.
Not sure the others even win this game. No one is winning w/this OL. I'm actually stunned Williams got 300 yards
I understand the OL isn't good. I'm not denying that.
What I am saying is that we were facing a bad team with a bad QB and bad D with a bad DL and this coaching staff still couldn't couldn't figure out how to win. I stand by my earlier statement that a legit good coaching staff, like those examples I cited, in that same situation finds a way to win that game...and probably does so comfortably.
Bears have played 2/3rds bad teams so far (I'll wager my left nut that Tenn and Indy both finish well under 500) and they are one Will Levis brain-fart away from being 0-3 right now.
Matt LaFleur has played lesser competition so far (Houston > Philly, other 2 same) with an awful backup QB who can't throw past the LOS and he's figured out how to be 2-1. O'Connell is 3-0 with Sam freakin Darnold.
We are again the basement of the NFCN and again have clearly the least talented coaching staff in terms of getting max production of the roster they're working with. Yes, the OL is a major problem but the coaching staff is as well.
The play-calling and personnel usage, not to mention Flus' idiotic gameday management, are atrocious.
Turned off the presser from Flus after he went on a diatribe about how the 4th down & goal disaster wasn't about playcalling and was execution. He's starting with the excuses early & often. I'm going to tune him out pretty soon.
I know, saw it. There's zero accountability from Flus. It's always the standard coach-speak pabulum ass-covering bullshit.
It was about BOTH. Difference between a good coaching and bad is that good coaches maximize their players' chance of success. Bad coaches like Flus-dron add to the degree of difficulty.
Looking at you, Ryan Poles. You knew on January 15 (probably way sooner) that you were drafting a new QB. You knew this was a golden opportunity to pair your new QB with the right HC and OC and align them on the some time schedule.
And you chose to stick with this guy? How the hell is that possible? These doofuses couldn't deliver a bottle of milk.

OMG he did get over 300 yards. Quietest 300 yard game ever. But I guess 300 yards isn’t that hard to achieve when you throw it like 50 times.
his ability to throw 50 times w/out dying is outstanding

You know what Indy thought, we are facing a bad team w/a rookie qb, a rookie wr a new OC and an OL that couldn't make the cut on most Div 2 college teams.
If you have an OL you can win games you shouldn't. If you have no OL you cannot win games you should. tell me, did Matts team build the Def and WR's and QB and for 3 years ignore one of the worst OL's in the league?
this isn't hard MP. And I'm not saying the coaching was good, but the OL drives the O. You cannot move the ball, you cannot score points, you cannot win games w/no OL. It won't work.

I honestly believe he thought Flus was the right guy. I think his close working relationship did not allow him to see it as objectively as he should have. Harbaugh comes up for consideration like every 4 years or so. We missed that window. Damn it.

The McCaskeys would cut Poles off at the knees if Harbaugh, or any other Tier 1 coach, was available.
They would never allow it. They want a Yes Man who is happy to get his first HC job.
Fox was past his prime, behind the times and only got the job because Accorsi OK’d it and the McCaskeys trust him.

Harbaugh wasn't going to get the job even if the Mc's were okay with it. 1, the MC's don't tend to like previous Bears players on their coaching staff. 2, like you pointed out, they don't want strong willed experienced HC's, Fox was never meant to be more then a couple years to help right the ship after the complete fail that was Trestman. 3, Poles and Harbaugh don't have a good relationship b/c of Covid and the Big10 cancelling the season. Add in that you are also correct, he was going to demand GM like power and neither the GM nor the owners were going to allow it. Lovie got a larger say over the team roster makeup and they went from went from SB loss to hovering around to get to .500. It won't happen again.
People need to get over the Harbaugh thing, it was never an option. He wasn't overlooked or passed up b/c of Flus. It was never an option to begin with. The next HC that comes in will fit the same mold and Nagy and Flus, and Lovie before that. Young coordinator talent that is up and coming and happy to have a job, so they'll do as they are told. Same w/the next GM. I still don't buy that Poles only needed to interview 1 guy, and it just so happened to be a guy the Mc's had already interviewed and wanted.
The Mc's demand yes men, and they get it, and it more often than not hurts the team more than not. Rot is from the top down in this Org. You can only hope that when Warren decides to clean house he'll have actual say w/out the Mc's interference. But when will he be fed up with this mess? He's got a stadium to deal with; and he's busy cleaning up the mess Phillips and his staff left w/that.
I hate myself for being a fan of this team. Lots and lots of pissed off Bears fans walking out of Lucas Oil Stadium yesterday.
It was the same thing the week before down in Houston as we left NRG Stadium. I kept thinking as we were getting back to our car, how the Bears don't deserve these good fans. That stadium was almost half filled with Chicago Bears fans who travel well to support them. But then the product Chicago puts on the field is so bad. I will always remember the year before at an away game when the people sitting in front of us (fans of the away team) turned around to us towards the end of the game (the Bears looked like a total clown show that day) - and they said, and I quote, "hey we are so very sorry for you" - they were not being derogative or dissing us at all. They were legit sorry for fans of a team like that. Total clown show, a train wreck.
Yes, I feel your pain, MP. Let's see what Ryan Poles does in the off season... with the coaches and the roster of players. No QB is gonna save this team from itself.
I want to see how the Bears look midway through the year. Its not looking pretty to struggle against of the worst defenses in the league.
His offensive pickup hasn't been great so far.
Claypool was a bust. Swift is looking to be an overpriced bust, Allen is looking to be a one year rental bust, Oline is regressing. Most offensive coaches need to be replaced.
The only good offensive pick he got was DJ Moore and that was only do to extreme luck on Panthers ownership.
Problem is we waited too long to replace Flus and his staff. Last offseason was perfect to do so. New QB and New OC. Best to have a HC who has a vision.
And our coaching staff STILL couldn’t find a way to scratch out a win.

If Harbaugh came here. I'm willing to bet we don't get Rome and draft an Oline tackle with our #9 overall pick. Harbaugh believes in building the lines first.

probably but he was never coming to chicago. not sure why you ever thought he was ever even an option. Mc's don't hire former team players as coaches and he and poles don't like eachother, and neither the mc's nor poles was a hc w/gm like power.
need to just drop it, he was never an option. That being said, the Bears need a GM and HC that understand the OL is the building block.
