Colts beat Bears - who gets the deflated ball?

I'm here in Indy right now and went to the game yesterday.  Gawd, I hate myself for being a fan of this team.  Lots and lots of pissed off Bears fans walking out of Lucas Oil Stadium yesterday. 

There's zero excuse for losing that game.  None.  I don't want to hear about how "tough it is to win on the road" either.  The Colts are a garbage team with a terrible QB (Richardson is awful), who had only one offensive weapon (Taylor), and was missing their only one real stud on defense (Buckner).

Yes, the OL wasn't good.  I think they were BETTER than weeks 1-2 (probably just facing lesser competition) but still not good enough.  

But my main focus for this rant is on the higher ups.

I see Matt LaFleur going 2-0 with Malik freakin' Willis at QB.  I see Mike Tomlin winning 3 straight games with Justin Fields, also a backup QB technically.  Neither of these guys are elite passers by any stretch.  Point is, whatever you think of our roster, this coaching stuff we have blows chunks.  AGAIN!  It again looks like we have a coaching staff that is "adequate" (at best) and will be out-coached on a regular basis. 

Flus threw two terrible challenges last week.  He squandered a key timeout yesterday when everyone on the fkn planet who has ever watched NFL football knew you had to go for two.  Then Waldron missed the two on a shit playcall.  Speaking of Waldon, WTF was that series of plays he ran 1st and goal from the 4?  Almost every set we could tell what play was about to be run from the stands IN ADVANCE.  Very little motion, very little disguise, all easily predictable.  

And I don't want to hear any of Flus' bullshit excuses about "we need to do better" either.  You are in year 3 as a HC, dude.  Waldron, you are in year 3 as an OC too.  You guys are past the point of having the "learning on the job" excuse.  You guys just simply suck at your jobs.  I remind everyone that this isn't revisionist history in hindsight either.  

Harbaugh was available as HC.  Klint Kubiak was available as OC.  In fact, the Bears interviewed KK twice.  Harbaugh would have LOVED to be Bears HC with Caleb Williams to work with. 

They just blew it.  Yet again.  It seems like every time this organization is at a pivot point, they manage to take the wrong fork in the road.  They always manage to hire or stick with the wrong coaching staff.  Flus and Waldron are clowns.  The former is a DC only and the latter caught lightning in a bottle somehow in Seattle but looks lost as an OC here.

Now on Poles.  He deserves blame for not firing Flus when he had the perfect opportunity last offseason to finally align his QB-HC-OC all together.  He had BETTER OPTIONS available.  He choked right when bold action was called for.

As for his player decisions, I'm starting to lose faith that he will every be anything more than the anti-Emery as a GM.  The guy just can't seem to scout and evaluate offense (both coaching and players). 

We all know about Claypool, Velus, and Nate Davis.  DeAndre Swift is a fkn mess now too to add to that group.  He had 13 caries for 20 yards.  In three games, he's averaging under 2 yards per carry.  You could literally fall forward every play and gain two yards.  Yes, I know the OL has been poor at run-blocking but a lot of this also falls on Swift and you can see it from the stands (I've been to 2 of the first 3 games).  When there are holes, he doesn't see them or hit them fast enough.  Way too much feet shuffling and way too little north-south.  I've seen him break only one tackle in 3 games.  The guy has the vision of an earthworm at night and the contact balance of a giraffe on ice skates.

Who the hell thought this guy was worth $8m as a running back?

Gerald Everett also looks like a worthless signing.  He hasn't made a single play yet this year, his hands suck, he can't block a mild breeze, and he gets tackled in the open field by DBs almost every time. I'm all for "adding weapons" but neither of these guys looks like a weapon at all.  Both Swift and Everett need to be demoted on the depth chart (get less snaps) immediately.  Herbert/RoJo >> Swift and Kmet >> Everett by a mile and there's zero excuse for the OC to not see that.  

Even with the OLs struggles, there just no way you should lose to a garbage team like Indy, especially when their only real pass rusher was out.  Bears had the far superior roster at almost every position but didn't manage to start scoring until nearly garbage time.

The coaches lost this game and the GM who hired/kept those coaches is responsible for the offensive misses both on the field and on the sidelines.

We just can't have nice things.  Once again, we are the worst performing team in the division with the worst coaching staff.

The real issue here is that you have to take your shot when you have the chance. That was one of the justifications for moving Fields and getting CW. That is also why we needed to get Harbaugh and KK. Because when Poles finally gets around to admitting Flus can't do it, they aren't available. Those ships have sailed. And they both would have been really happy to have docked in Chicago. Then we go with the next clowns in line. Rinse and repeat. Pretty frustrating.

And our coaching staff STILL couldn’t find a way to scratch out a win.

Matt LaFleur wins that game.
Mike Tomlin wins that game.
Harbaugh wins that game.
Kevin O’Connell and Dan Campbell wins that game.

Instead we are running wildcat and cheesy college option plays at the goaline and can’t score.

These coaches are fkn clowns irrespective of the OL issues.

I cant understand why they didnt follow GBs blueprint and run the ball at minimum 50/50 (and not out of shotgun but w/Caleb under center) with Roschon and Hebert. Horrible game planning and personnel usage through 3 weeks. Swift needs to be used as a 3rd down back, Everett should probably be downgraded to 3rd string.
