I was on a bike ride and missed the controversial turnover caused by the ref. Can you fill me in?
He pulled a Cutler. He was carrying the ball loosely and ran into the ref - coughed up the ball.
Overall he looks like he has good raw physical talent, but boy he looks too rough to start right away at the NFL level.
And that pick-6 (in the 3rd quarter?) was brutal too.
Did you listen to Gary Danielson's commentary during the game? I thought he was really on the mark. Trubisky has had one year as a starter and is not a finished product. He has one more year of college eligibility and I don't think he has formally entered the NFL draft. Danielson was basically saying that Trubisky cold really benefit from another year at NC. I agree.
If Trubisky enters the draft this year, he would need to be a backup for at least a year, maybe two. He is too raw to be worth a high 1st round pick.
I really liked a lot of what he does. That last 4th quarter drive was really something. But again, he needs a lot of development.

+1 That is EXACTLY how I see it too. He'd be better off staying a 2nd year playing college QB.

Man, if you've been watching Mason Rudolph of OSU you've got to be a lil upset the kid decided to return to OSU next year. Kids dangerous. Last night against a damn good CO secondary he went 22/32 for 314 yds and 3TDs. For the season he had a 63.4% comp rate, 4100 yards 28 TDs and only 5 Ints. Dangerous kid. Was hoping we could target him in rds 2-4
Is this another reason to kick the can one more year down the road when the QB class may be better? I'm just asking because I've done little research yet.
If Fox ends up a lame duck HC in 2018, and there's a very good chance of that, then who are we drafting a QB for if we do use a higher pick? Do we draft a QB to fit what Fox wants or what? Unless Pace feels there's a good chance he'll either keep Cutler or trade for a young vet prospect I'm not sure why we spend a high pick on a QB at all if Fox and Loggains are the offense.
It just seems to be there are so many things that are counterproductive in keeping the offense we have and drafting a rookie to run it all I can envision is another train wreck and more excuses.

And then it would be down to Watson and Kizer and either as a high pick would be like going all on an Ace high against Jacks hoping for another Ace on the river card. I'm not that lucky so I like to mitigate my risk.

I think the McCaskeys will feel so much heat that they will "react" and do something THIS year at QB when they probably should have done something before this year - get our own Garoppolo or Prescott guy - before being in full blown crisis mode like we are in 2017. Decisions made in crisis, instead of well thought out decisions made in advance of crisis - often are bad moves. I fear this will be a bad move year due to poor planning. The franchise just lurches from year-to-year with these poor moves.
Can we "buy" a QB from another team like we did with Jay Cutler? Sure. And it may happen. Will Garoppolo perform for John Fox and the Chicago Bears as well as for Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots? No.
We all know that. LOL, we're Bears fans. We know how these things work out for the Bears. Ted Philips and the McCaskeys are probably feeling some heat to placate the fan base. They can toss us the bone and get us to shut up for a couple years by buying a QB from another team. That will shut us up and they can continue to count their money - and the $2.7-Billion dollar franchise can continue to be the cash cow for the McCaskey clan. They'll figure it's all "good" now and we will shut up and go away. The McCaskeys are pretty smart people money-wise. They play us fans pretty well.
Belichick is a pretty sharp guy. If he is getting rid of Garoppolo then I have to wonder why. Bill Belichick probably isn't doing this just to be a nice guy. Go figure :-)
I wouldn't wait for any prospect. Next year Mason could die in a house fire or ruin his leg or, more likely, get exposed as a QB. I think there are enough QB candidates at the top to give a well-researched GM a shot at a starting caliber QB. I like Watson and Kaaya but I dunno much about these things.
