Comparing Kelly to Manziel is just ignorant. Look at The "incidents" of Kelly, they all were over 2 years ago except for the one where his brother was pretty much being lynched on the sidelines and he came to his defense. Watch the tape. Watch the Alabama game in where he picked that top ranked D apart. I'd take him as the guy to build around over any other QB in this draft - why - because IMO he's the best college QB I've seen this year (I will note that there are a few guys, like Trubisky, that I've never seen play other than highlight film and I don't count that because you could make a highlight film of ANY QB and make them look great - truth is it's a far cry from the real story).
I would go with a QB in the first round if the person is available. Just not Kizer from ND..
I'm curious, what don't you like about Kizer? I'm not saying you're wrong, I just want to understand what you don't like about him? It sure looks like none of the QB's in this draft will be studs right out of the chute. Some believe Kizer has the best set of raw talent of any QB this year... but he will need some development time when he goes to an NFL team. One thing in his favor though, is that he is not just a college spread offense guy. He has experience in a more pro type college offense.
If we would spend that top-5 pick on a QB, the only one I'd personally feel good about is Kizer. LOL, now I don't know squat about QB's so that doesn't mean much :-)

The more I look at Kelly, the more I might want to take a chance on him. I'd be good with Allen in the first (assuming we still draft at #3 and he is there) and Kelly in the second. We need other players such as secondary really bad, but we have to also continue to plug holes. Pace does well in FA also, so hopefully we can continue to get better. Change out what we are doing in our training dept and take a serious look at whether or not we want to keep Fox and let's get this done with no more looking at high draft picks next year. It is time all Bears fans look forward to winning as many games as we can and getting into the post season. That's what real teams do and we need to be there.
Getting lynched that's a bit much isnt' it? His teammates and coaches and ref's should be the ones on the field breaking it up, not his brother who's not on the team.
2 years ago, he was dismissed from Clemson b/c of his issues, not exactly a team willing to walk away from high talent b/c someone got caught smoking weed. He resisted arrest as well as other issues. Oh and there's the pic right now of him rolling a blunt.
So 2 years later he's still making bad decisions off the field, and apparently allows himself to hang around moron's; not b/c they are smoking, b/c they aren't aware of how this hurts him...and neither is he.

Kid won't get touched early.
I'd like to see us draft a QB in the 1st or 2nd round this year. But if this guy is still hanging around in the 5th round, then this is the kind of guy I'd love to see us take a chance on. The Bears would have to do their homework here, but if it's just a young kid being stupid - well, that doesn't automatically make him a bad LATER round pick. LOL, maybe it would be pure crazy to draft 2 QB's. And Fox would probably have a stroke if Pace didn't draft all choir boys. But in a low-risk, high-reward situation (5th round pick or so) I'd love to see the move.

Maybe it has to do with what is going on at ND..
I don't follow ND that closely. I really don't follow any college team closely. My dad was a die-hard ND fan though, and I did follow the team when I was young, but that was a long time ago. But if this guy has the talent then I really don't care what team he has played for.

Most teams I would agree, but this is a team that isn't going to touch this kind of hassle. If in the 4th I would consider it, even if I took a qb earlier in the draft. But again, not this team, they just won't touch it.
