I agree with everyone here that we need to improve our IOL. We can argue about what Poles should have done in the draft or FA, but we are here and, in my opinion, there are no easy fixes this season. If the Bears coordinators are any good and our offensive weapons are as good as we think, then why are we not designing and running plays that take less time to develop (quick slants / quick hooks), more runs, and play action? If you run plays that need 3 to 4 seconds with a weak IOL, the DT's are just going to tee off and bury you alive. Our line may not be great but it's at least average (and I think we can say that). We should be able to design and run plays that allow us to drive down the field somewhat consistently as long as we are targeting all our weapons somewhat evenly.
As we stated for years under the JF regime, our offense should be built around what we have and play to its strengths. Caleb sitting back untouched waiting for Moore, Allen and Rome to get free deep then having enough time to deliver a perfect pass everytime is a pipe dream.

That's kind of where I'm at on this now. It took a few days for me to process the first game... I honestly didn't know what to expect in that one anyway. One encouragement I get from all of this is that Waldron adjusts well. He is not a "square peg into a round hole" guy. He is especially good to adapt to fit his quarterbacks. We will see adjustments made that will help Caleb, the OL - and the offense will be better.
That being said, I'm thinking this Texans game will be a tough one. It is a better team than the Titans. So I'm not going to expect the offense to have a magical transformation overnight. I'll be a happy camper if we can at least see a modest improvement. This year, more than ever, it would be great to see the team get better from game to game, all season long. This sets the table for 2025, the year most Bears fans expect a true playoff caliber team.

This is Houston's first home game of the season. It is on National TV. It is being billed as last years phenom (Stroud) vs this years phenom (Williams). If you don't think they will be up for it, you are not paying attention. There is no way that they are going to let Chicago leave with a win. It is going to be a tough game. They are not going to give it to us. We are going to have to take it.

I feel that if C.Will is this generational QB we have been told he is. Then there is no such thing as a wasted game/season.
He will learn or speak out. He is too savvy to accept the beatings. He knows the Bears need him to succeed so I can see him suggesting to the staff on ways he thinks will fix the team.
He is very social driven and will use that to get the word out.
These young's kids are smarter then give em credit for lol.

Yeah, it's a huge test. Bears are a big underdog in this one. As a fan though, I'm looking most forward to seeing what adjustments are made on offense. If Eberflus and the O coaches can adjust well, then that would be mighty encouraging. Even if we lose I'd take that over looking clueless.
Is there a PS player somewhere we could grab for C? Been looking at a list but I don't honestly know who any of them are but 1.
Trey Hill Bengals Sam Mustipher Chargers lol Dakoda Shepley Cowboys Jimmy Morrissey Giants Kingsley Eguakun Lions Will Putnam Raiders
That is nice of you to bird dog that. I don't know who they are either. I guess I would look at the teams that are stacked on the OL to have the best chance of having someone good on the PS. At least that is my thought process

Any argument that starts with "Poles should have traded down with [insert team here]...." you can skip. Its pure speculation. Its one of my two "makes me tear my hair out sayings,' the other being "Poles could have drafted [insert late round pick here] in the [select a round two rounds later than where the player was actually drafted]."
btw, if it wasn't already obvious from last week. yes, it 100% will.
Poles should be 100% embarassed that he's allowed the OL to get to this state. 2 mid to slightly + OT's and G-C-G that could all be replaced by their backups and you wouldn't know the difference. You cannot build an O from the outside in and expect good results.
QB, LT, C, RT, G's. all are equal to more important than any WR, let alone the 2nd or 3rd.

Whelp, the Bears really don't have much else they can invest in on the team other than offensive and defensive line, so here's hoping they pick up a pass rusher in round 1 and draft O line the rest of the draft next year.
