There is no evidence of this. Again this is cope. And why would Nagy tell Fields stuff that was different than Reid? Some of you need to move on from the Nagy hate and accept the fact that it wasn't all his fault. Sometimes the players just aren't that great and can't or won't overcome their limitations.
[brasil lols and then ducks his head and runs for cover hoping none of the fallout hits him as he cowardly heads for the door]
You're stirring things up my good man. Stirring things up.
No, I think Nagy was the greatest of the great head coaches. Just look at how many NFL teams have offered him a HC gig after he was let go here... oh, wait...
EDIT: LOL, next hour we will discuss the greatness of Marc Trestman, and how his failure here wasn't his fault either.
This is because many fans overthink things and think there is some super secret formula to producing a great QB. The reality is through luck or skill you have to pick the right one. The only real determiner to sit someone or not is who gives the best chance to win at that moment. Mahomes sat because Alex Smith was playing at a high level. Love sat because Rodgers was playing at a high level. And Rodgers sat because Favre was playing well. Had the rookie QBs had different lesser QBs in front of them they all would have likely played their rookie years. And I don't think there career trajectories would have been much different.
*nods head in agreement*
But posters will argue that Mahomes would be Mitch 2.0 if he had been drafted here. Mahomes is the GOAT QB of ALL TIME. Chicago would have a SB win by now if Pace had drafted Mahomes. I'll fight you over this.
If Pace had done his homework and drafted Mahomes, the Bears would have had a SB in 2018. Absolutely. The defense was unbelievable that year. If the offense was capable of generating touchdowns, Nagy would have looked like a genius telling Mahomes to go throw touchdowns to wide receivers that normally would suck, but get a ball thrown to them that is impossible to defend.
LOL, Nagy deserves criticism for sure but yeah he was far from the worst Bears HC this century. It basically boils down to this:
Did he have a good QB to work with? Nope, he did not. Trubisky was bottom tier starter from late 2018 onward. He sucked. Then along came Justin. I think Nagy was wrong to not give JF 1st team reps as a rookie (Jahns famously called TC "a waste of time" that year). But ultimately, running heroics aside, Fields was also a bottom-tier passer as a starter for both Nagy and Flus.
Regardless of what you think of all the Bears past failed HCs, they key stat to me is that the Bears have had a bottom-1/3rd passing offense (20th or worse in the league by yards) some ridiculous streak like 16 of the last 23 years. We are the only team in the whole damn league who has never had a 4000 yard passer. The Bears all-time leading receiver is a guy who played in the 1960s and who had less than 6000 career yards.
It almost difficult to be that pathetic. The bar to be "great" as a HC, WR, or QB for this team is really damn low.
He wasn't the worst but he sure wasn't good enough. Would you want him as our coach now? I wouldn't, even with Caleb Williams here and the added O talent - I would not want Nagy as the Bears HC. And we are not seeing ANY team in the NFL hiring him as an HC either. I don't hate the guy at all... I just think he is not a good HC. With Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid and a Super Bowl winning roster talent, Nagy may be fine. But that is with Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid and a Super Bowl winning roster talent.
I've yet to be convinced Flus is a better HC than Nagy. Maybe he'll demonstrate it this year, but there hasn't been anything to show that definitively yet. The last half of last year was encouraging but the rest has been pretty bad. I've given Flus a pass so far because he's had to deal with a stripped down roster and a mediocre QB. Maybe he will be better and come into his own, but that hasn't happened yet.
Nagy was disappointing, but the idea he was the only obstacle to the Bears becoming a perennial SB team is laying it on too thick. Some people talk about him like he was Trestman, who was an actual disaster of a coach. The need to constantly make Nagy the whipping boy is just annoying.
He's just the most recent whipping boy. And we gotta complain about stuff. We're Bears fans. We complain. It's all we've had till now
LOL, some truth there, Shark. And no question Nagy was not all to blame. Was he a failed coach here too? Yes. There is a reason why the NFL hasn't hired him for a HC gig yet. Nobody has wanted him, yet.
Not. One. Team.
People can try to spin history all they want but Nagy did some crappy things here as coach. Head shaking things that blew my mind. I was glad they moved on from him. Was he better than Marc Trestman? Sure... but that's like talking about who the tallest midget in the room is. They both failed here doing stupid stuff.

The sad thing is that I was giddy with joy and happiness the day we hired him. The Bears front office should hire me as a consultant - and everything I think is "good" they should shun like the plague. I'd be an safety test like those old Canaries they used to take down into the coal mines. If the bird keeled over dead the miners stampeded to get out of the mine... the Bears could do the equivalent of that and once I'm "for" something they could run for their NFL lives

Whose trying to spin history here? Thats a strawman argument. Nagy was a terrible HC, you can see that on every post in this thread. No one, repeat no one is trying to argue otherwise. I'm just amused that Nagy is viewed with so much hatred by the fan base, similar to how Nate Davis is viewed now.
How many HCs after they are fired get another job right away? If thats the best argument we can come up with...its pretty weak. I'll say it again, within weeks of being fired, Nagy was asked to return to a team with SB aspirations and has since won SBs with him on the coaching staff. The GOAT QB was excited to have Nagy back in the QB room.
Is it possible that like most HCs, Nagy was hired for a job he would never be able to do? Yes. I think 100% this is true. Is it also possible that when it comes to working on an OFF staff that Nagy is valued? The Chiefs think so. Note that Bieniemy who also served as OC for Andy Reid was not asked to return to the Chiefs. Wonder if Reid views Nagy was more valuable than Bieniemy? You know, Reid, one on the greatest HC in NFL history?
We were all disappointed after the Fox disaster and when Nagy was hired and went to the playoffs in his first season we got excited. When he then stumbled and fell down over and over and over and over some of us took it personally. I find it humorous, thats all.
Good grief this has been a worthless discussion. I'm out.

I also thought he was a good hire. I mean, you want to support the guys that come in so you always think the best.
