And Nagy even stunk at that job. Those State Farm commercials with Reid grabbing the "nuggies"? Those were real, Reid was forced to get his own coffee and lunches to cover Nagy's ineptness.

It is possible that Nagy was a terrible OC, but as to working directly with QBs and under an OFF-minded HC that he has an important role on that team. Mahomes was happy when the Chiefs brought Nagy back.

Nagy is kind of the Nate Davis of Bears HCs, even though Fox was muuuuuuuuuuch worse than Nagy.

It's not Nagy hate. It wasn't all Nagy's fault but a lot of it was. He failed here with self-inflicted wounds.

LOL, Nagy deserves criticism for sure but yeah he was far from the worst Bears HC this century. It basically boils down to this:

Did he have a good QB to work with? Nope, he did not. Trubisky was bottom tier starter from late 2018 onward. He sucked. Then along came Justin. I think Nagy was wrong to not give JF 1st team reps as a rookie (Jahns famously called TC "a waste of time" that year). But ultimately, running heroics aside, Fields was also a bottom-tier passer as a starter for both Nagy and Flus.

Regardless of what you think of all the Bears past failed HCs, they key stat to me is that the Bears have had a bottom-1/3rd passing offense (20th or worse in the league by yards) some ridiculous streak like 16 of the last 23 years. We are the only team in the whole damn league who has never had a 4000 yard passer. The Bears all-time leading receiver is a guy who played in the 1960s and who had less than 6000 career yards.

It almost difficult to be that pathetic. The bar to be "great" as a HC, WR, or QB for this team is really damn low.

I believe we are overlooking the supporting cast. Mahones and Rodgers both had established skill position players. Last year Fields had DJ Moore and Kmet. I believe Caleb is an improvement over Fields, however if Fields had the current supporting cast around him who knows who this year's QB would be. I am glad things worked as they have and very optimistic about this teams future. Odunze and Williams look like veterans already, if they stay healthy the sky is the limit. Not sure we ever had 3 top notch WRs, 2 proven RBs and 2 TEs. RG, OC, and RDE may or may not be problems, but let's say most vulnerable at this time. Hardy and Booker may be enough of a tandem to make RDE a strength moving forward. Go Bears.
