oh no...."Williams, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, had a number of incompletions and near-interceptions in practice against Chicago’s first-string defense."
Incompletions and near-interceptions! What's next, almost-sacks and near-tipped passes? Good grief Chicago media is terrible. ----
I just wanted to get that in before the doom and gloomers showed up ready to pounce on anyone who dares disagree with any thing negative.
Sounds like the defense is a lot further along than the offense at this early point.

The defense will be ahead of the offense...they have continuity. Plus the rookie QB will have bad days...and bad games. Buckle up for that. Apparently he held on to the ball a lot today with only DJ Moore being the legit receiver out there...sounds familiar eh?

""I mean, we had a good day. I’m not going to sit here and lie about that," veteran safety Kevin Byard said after practice. "But to be honest, it’s to be expected. You have a returning top-15, top-10 defense, obviously going against a younger rookie quarterback who’s getting acclimated and learning things, that’s what it is supposed to look like.""

I liked that Erik Kramer interview that Chuck posted in its own thread. I think he nailed it regarding Caleb Williams. He was very positive about Caleb but pointed out that he has a lot to learn before he will be good at this level. I think this is EXACTLY what is happening right now at the very early (extremely early) stage for CW. It's nothing to worry about... way too early for that. But we are not going to see a seamless "plug and play" at QB1 this year. That doesn't happen. Kramer mentioned that even Mahomes was not that guy day-1. And even with the C.J. Stroud hype, if you go back and look at his rookie play, he was not without some struggles last year himself. The team was able to compensate with his learning year and win some of those games.

Lol ... I was just posting the same thing on my thread about Kramer. But my thoughts were that Kramer was absolutely spot on with that. I don't want to call it a criticism. Because it is not. It is more an observation of an area where CW need to grow and adjust.
And having a top 10 defense on your own team who will take delight in showing the young man up is probably the best way to do it. Better in OTAs ad TC than in real games.
Hopefully CW's adjustment to NFL defenses is well on its way to completion by the time the regular season starts.
I believe that is the definition of the old phrase "Iron sharpens iron".
