Improve every single year is the name of the game.
I think davidl is mailing out sworn affidavit forms to each of one of us. We are supposed to provide the EXACT date and time the Bears will win a Super Bowl. We do need to sign these in blood (DNA sample) and have it notarized and returned to him by early next week. But my problem is that I never graduated with my MSU... am I qualified to sign an important document like David's? Could you overnight my MSU (and what will that cost me, BIH? Do you give messageboard discounts for us guys?
And I do worry because I have been MSU'ing for years here on our forum - practicing MSU without a license... am I in trouble?

What? Tremaine Edmunds T.J. Edwards Jaquan Brisker Kyler Gordon Montez Sweat DeMarcus Walker Gervon Dexter Tyrique Stevenson Zacch Pickens
In 2023 he had one player in his 1st 3 rounds go to offense.
Allen is a 1-2 year rental. He's old and is in contract year coming to the Bears. You have to draft his replacement this year if a top 3 WR is on board. Our defense literally finish top 5 at the end of the season. So much for awful defense play. More so our offense couldn't keep up with modern NFL scoring.
I was referring to the defensive players that are worth a damn. JJ, Sweat and Brisker are the only good ones. Edmunds is okay, nothing more. The rest is totally replaceable.
Defense finished 20th in PPG, Offense 18th in PPG - so much for our offense not being able to keep up. In case you've already forgotten, the main issue was not the lack of weapons but shitty QB play and awful play design.
This is probably the most loaded Bears offense we've had since the 2013 season. The notion that our WRs, TEs and RBs are still not enough for Williams to work with is ridiculous.
Allen is going to be 32 years old this year. How much does he still have in the tank? He's also going to want to get paid well this offseason and is banking on the Bears and more importantly Williams to come out hard.
I see us FT him and let him go after 34. Other than that. DJ Moore will be 27 this year. We got a good 5-7 more years with him.
I'm not thinking about now. I'm thinking about in 3-4 years. This may be the best time to develop a rookie WR. He isn't going to be asked to be a #1 or a #2 WR in year one. If he's good, you'll have him 10+ years as a starter.
It also allows us to trade Allen for draft pick if our rookie WR pulls strong numbers allowing us to use that cap space at another position. Like Pass Rusher.

I am hoping we do draft a solid WR. Rome Odunze is the guy who I think is a fantastic fit for our offense and Caleb Williams. I am hoping we can get 3 seasons out of Keenan Allen. Yes, he is old. But his primary value is his route-running skills and "get up and get it" catching skills. I don't think that type of WR drops off a cliff like a speedster guy can. Keenan Allen is NOT a speedster. In fact the guy ran a 4.71 forty on his pro day. Downright slow for a WR. It is his moves that make him special... Hall of Fame level special. So I'm all for trying to see if he would be somewhat affordable at this point in his career... he could finish out in Chicago with a good QB1 throwing to him (Caleb). I don't think he'd be cheap LOL no way that is happening. But maybe he and the Bears can strike some kind of middle ground. I hope so. I think 3 years of Keenan Allen would be a huge asset for a newly drafted Caleb Williams. Add in D.J. Moore and a great rookie - and we'd be set for a Super Bowl run in a couple years.

Keenan was a GREAT acquisition. He is a super weapon and he will mentor and make both our WRs and QB better long term. He is only going to be here a year, maybe two max. That is why we need to take a WR with 9. Having a rookie WR learn under Allen for a year will be invaluable for his career and production. Get another wr and let him learn from Allen while he’s still here

I be careful how much you pay an aging WR. Allen isn't really known for being an injury free guy. Draft mocks has him having a 33% of an injury in 2024 with the Bears. I'm not saying he was a bad trade. He's perfect for a new QB to throw the ball to and perfect for a rookie WR to learn from. He's just not a long term guy I would plan a rebuild on and wouldn't waste too much cap on him.
If Rome Odunze is there at #9. You take him no matter what. Have him be our #3 WR and learn from Moore and Allen. Year 2 its up to the Bears to decide if Odunze needs another year to learn or if he can step it up and be our #2 WR.
We're at this part of the rebuild now in which we got to be careful where we put our cap space too. Overpaying for players in their prime ain't too bad. Overpaying Aging players can be because you never really know when they will fall off the cliff in terms of production.

Having had Keenan Allen on my fantasy team multiple seasons in the past I can attest to his past injuries.

As good as Moore is, I think he would be learning from Allen

No one said that.
What we are saying is A) the O talent in this draft looks better than the D talent and B) giving CW the best chance to succeed is way more important than getting 6 more sacks.

That's it, no more Mr. Nice Guy. I'm opening a European version of MSU. Unlike you, I will send degrees as advertised, albeit it on TP so that they last until at least the next flush. That will learn ya!!
