And since you brought up KC. How many elite/A level receivers do they have? None.
One elite TE and a bunch of average receivers most people don't even know. Last year their best WR was a second round rookie who finished w/ 938 yards (426 fewer yards than DJ Moore). Stop thinking that a QB can only be successful w/ half a dozen stars on his side.
You know how one can take the pressure off your QB? Have a defense that can get to the QB, stop the run and create turnovers. Because trust me, you can't and won't be able to score 30+ points every single game. Sometimes your QB has a bad game and you need your defense to step up and win it for you. Yes, even in today's NFL.

How would you rate KC's offensive line? I think that we'll need upgrades to ours if you want any sort of a shot at the postseason in 2024.
Eberflus can take a back seat this year. He had 2 years where the defense got all the new add ons. Time to give Williams what he needs.
Then I guess it's a good thing that Poles & Flus have already given Williams (or Maye) everything he needs. Two class A receivers, good TE, good RB, they upgraded the OL and hired a better OC.
Other than Brisker in 2022 and Sweat in 2023, what exactly did the defense get these past two years? Seriously, outside of JJ, Sweat and Brisker, our D is pretty awful.
The end of last season the Defense was a top 10 defense. If we can get a top 10 offense to go with the Defense we will be pretty respectable. I expect Dexter to take a major step forward this year, both CBs looked pretty good too last yr. So with some improvement we should do well on Defense. Maybe re-sign Yannick Ngakoue for DE for a year. We signed a few in FA also, no big names but should allow us to build offense more. This is my perspective, but... I could be wrong

I agree with you. I have a feeling the Bears are going to finish the roster with the right players we need most. It won’t be perfect but it will probably be the best roster (overall) that we have had here in many years. I am very excited.

Improve every single year is the name of the game.

I think davidl is mailing out sworn affidavit forms to each of one of us. We are supposed to provide the EXACT date and time the Bears will win a Super Bowl. We do need to sign these in blood (DNA sample) and have it notarized and returned to him by early next week. But my problem is that I never graduated with my MSU... am I qualified to sign an important document like David's? Could you overnight my MSU (and what will that cost me, BIH? Do you give messageboard discounts for us guys?
And I do worry because I have been MSU'ing for years here on our forum - practicing MSU without a license... am I in trouble?

You have this all wrong. There is a huge distinction between “win Super Bowl” and have a “Super Bowl ready” team. By definition, a Super Bowl ready team has, according to the Las Vegas odds-makers, about as good a chance as anybody at the start off the playoffs of winning the Super Bowl. By this definition, for example, the wild card teams are rarely Super Bowl ready. I hope I have cleared up that confusion.
Second point: For you guys who just want to get better, or win a playoff game, or something, are you satisfied with these goals even if Poles never has a Super Bowl ready team before 2030? If not, how long would you like Warren to wait?
Whiskey Man: I know our wishes count for nothing. Just filling this dead time leading up to the draft.

I'll get serious here for a bit and say that description is helpful. I was misunderstanding what that "Super Bowl ready" term actually meant. When taken in that context then it makes me more comfortable saying 2026 is our year to have that level of team. In fact I could see the Bears at that milestone in 2025 (not setting that as a drop-dead milestone date though). I have thought of that level of team as one that is a level higher than just a team that makes the playoffs. It is a team that can be competitive in the playoffs. But as far as firing people, I think that is something to be evaluated any year. And this is where the "team making progress" thing kicks in. You don't give people to 2026 if the team is 0-17 and falling apart. And you don't automatically fire people if 2026 is a season where unforeseen circumstances impacts the season (for example massive injury year with Caleb out and the backup being a typical backup guy). I would personally base my own firing decision on an evaluation of all of the data at that point. I think that is just being thoughtful and reasonable.
If the Bears start making the playoffs in consecutive years, then I doubt anyone gets fired right away. If E-Flus goes 1-1 in the playoffs for the next 2 season....maybe you clear the decks and promote with an up and coming OC to try and get that little push over. I don't see anyway Poles gets fired if the team goes 1-1 in the playoffs for the near future.
Its hard to win SBs. Look at the current Bills team. They had an elite QB, a top 10 WR, and a pretty good DEF. And nothing. The Chargers have "the most physically skilled QB" in the league according to lots of people...and nothing. The Bengels have a top 5 QB, 2 top 10 WRs and a decent DEF....nothing. SF have the greatest HC and GM (again according to the media) along with the greatest collection of individual talent the league as ever seen....not one SB win. Eagles have the greats DL ever built, GOATs and HOF-ers all of them, and....nothing.
While I hope to see multiple SB wins before I shuffle off this mortal coil, I'm only going to hold my breath for the next step. Consistent playoff appearances. At that point I'll start bitching and moaning about SBs.
