You were beyond that. Nobody brought that up but you.
I think 4 QB's are going top 10. I've been saying FOREVER, that if the top 3 receivers are gone I'm trading down...though I wouldn't be too upset if they stayed put and took Thomas Jr. or Verse. I'd be cool if they traded way down too and took Franklin or Adonai too and picked up a 2 and/or 3 to go with it.
So you’d rather trade down for the #6 WR than Powers-Johnson?
Powers Johnson is not going top 10, nor should he. I can more easily find a center than I can a game changing receiver. They simply don't make it to free agency, you either have to draft them, or trade for them...as we've seen.
We really do need a WR. I see Allen as a 2 year rental at most.
Once you get down to #6-#8, there isn’t a lot of difference, and you can get one in 3rd round. Once you get past the top-5, I’d rather have JPJ or Newton.
Over and over again this year I've thought about how this draft could go a number of different ways - and still be a very good one for the team. The Bears draft board probably looks very different than what the pundits and podcast people have. This is where we should just relax and trust Poles to get it right. Overall he has built a solid young team in a very short span of time. I can't wait to see the players he adds in this draft. I also believe we will see one more key player added in FA. Not just a JAG but another important piece could still be brought in. And by that I don't necessarily mean an extremely expensive piece, but rather a guy we really could use to complete this roster for 2024.
I'm really hoping they sign Mike Danna, DE from KC.
Young guy in his prime coming off a good year. He'd be a very nice signing.

Thats simply not true.
If these guys were all equal, they would be randomly distributed in the draft. I’m not spending #9 pick ona WR that NO mock draft has going before second or third round. That is a stupid waste of the pick just to get a WR at any cost.

Why do you give a damn what any mock says?
I don’t give a damn what any ONE says, but if you see 100, including mocks from knowledgeable guys like Brugler and others who have studied all the tapes and NONE have WR not going before 2nd or 3rd round, I am not drafting him at #9 and neither is Poles. You can take that to the bank.
Sometimes, you just have to over reach, criticisms be damned. JPJ may value at around 22-26, but if Poles WANTS a pro-bowl Center and the only pick he can burn is #9... so be it.
If he puts it on the floor and teams like Pittsburgh see it, they're going to look to move up knowing who Poles is after (they're high on JPJ).

You need to get ahead of Steelers and Cowboys, but I figure you’d have a very good chance of getting JPJ with a trade down to 16-19. That’s a reasonable overpay that probably would not cause butkus a heart attack.

Not sure JPJ is the guy I would over reach for, but I agree. If you hit, so what if you "over reach"?
