JABF, I'd love to have him, but no, I would pass. I would rather fill other spots. Like you mentioned, I'd go for a WR if there. If not, I'd go with DT or DE next. Bowers is also intriguing to me. Maybe high for a TE though. Alt would be in the mix for me also because I like him, but The other positions represent larger holes for me.
If he’s there, in my opinion, you take him and move Brax inside.
I honestly had not thought about moving Braxton Jones to guard. I know that happens a lot. We did it with Jenkins and he was a far better G than T. That might be one solid OL with: elite LT - Jenkins G - New Center - Braxton Jones G - Darnell Wright RT. (and Nate Davis as a very solid G backup).
A young and potentially solid oline better than we’ve seen in Chicago in a long time.
No. I take Williams and Verse at 9. We have glaring holes on QB and DE. Need to fill them via draft.
I think you're probably right. I'm admitting that I am a bit (LOL, okay, a lot) obsessed with putting the best offensive line in front of Williams. I am so tired of the QB failures. This time I keep hoping the Bears learn from past mistakes and pull out all of the stops to support a young QB here in Chicago. Admittedly, there are multiple ways to do this. To be honest I really don't care so much about the defense until the offense monkey is off our back. We know how to do D in Chicago. Our existing D at the end of the season was already playing at top-5 in the entire NFL level. But the offense? The offense has been broken here for years and years. A strong offensive line is part of the equation to solve this problem. LOL, I admit I hadn't thought about Alt - Jenkins - C - Brax - Wright as an option. Once I heard that it intrigued me. Nate Davis is not a starter quality guy but would be a solid backup G.
Ya but to have potential bookend All Pros!! That would be very hard to pass up. Besides Brax could give ya a 2nd? Maybe? Or can Brax move inside?
^This. Wanna help a rookie qb, more then weapons give him a stud OL. Brax is good, enough, but not perennial all pro special. Only pff fanboys thinks he'll get their, he was even quoted as saying he has to improve to keep his spot back in Dec.
Much like Fields, if you don't know if he's your guy, he's not your guy.

+1,000 In essence the team could end up with an elite QB1 and also an elite LT. In one draft. Alt is every bit as special at LT as Caleb Williams is at QB.
Folks here have been talking all offseason that he's a future HoF WR. If that's the case I don't see his skipping pro-day bumping him from his WR1 perch.

Exactly!
The idea is to get better. Sure a stud Edge is important BUT using a #1 pick on a QB you want him to be comfortable as best as possible. He has the legs if need be but we need to give him time. We all know even a fraction of a second helps a ton so why not help him as best we can.

Wright is better suited than Brax to play guard — more weight, less mobility, short arms.
