Hell no. I am taking Odunze if possible. If not, I am trading down and trying to get Powers-Johnson. Bears problem is in the middle of the line, not the tackles. I am “meh” on both these centers he brought in.
Yeah, I wouldn't spend that high of a pick on an interior OL guy. It's just too rich of a cost. But the top tier position-wise (for me anyway) is franchise QB, OT and DE edge guy. Those 3. WR would have to be incredibly special to spend that kind of investment. But in this draft I think we have three guys in this draft that meet that. Joe Alt would be the OL equivalent of a franchise QB acquisition. They are special.
If you want a tackle (I don’t), you could trade down a few spots and there are 2 or 3 who are about as good as Alt. They won’t take Alt. I predict Odunze, DE, or trade down. I like any of those better.

I think there is going to be a trade down. I don't think he is taking anyone at 9, but if one of the top WRs was there, I wish he would

Those are live possibilities, and I’m OK with either, depending on what player he picks. I also think Flus will push him toward DL.

Alt seems like a T on a whole different tier than any of the others in this draft. That's just my opinion, so that means nothing :-)
I am not looking for a T or a replacement for Brax. But no question this guy is a significant upgrade over Brax (like from average to elite). Maybe you trade down to take another position. Heck they can do that for the QB1 they take this year too. But you are sure passing over an elite player that way (both QB and T).
Ya but to have potential bookend All Pros!! That would be very hard to pass up. Besides Brax could give ya a 2nd? Maybe? Or can Brax move inside?
At the very least you would have a special guy for swing T in Brax. I'm not saying we need a T. Brax is average (I'm assuming he takes another step this season and continues to improve). He is a Leno like guy... nothing wrong with keeping that kind of guy. But Alt would be a significant upgrade (think Caleb vs Fields, but a T version of that). If we didn't have the high draft picks this year we'd have kept Fields as QB1. But the opportunity arose to significantly upgrade the position - one of the top 3 or 4 positions on a team. Hard to pass that kind of opportunity up with that #9 pick... if it would happen. We're probably deluding ourselves that Alt is still there at #9.

Chargers might take Alt. Fuaga and Fautana would be available with a small trade down. The Seahawks fans are very familiar with Fautana (played for Huskies). They love him. For what it’s worth, Kiper sees him as future All Pro. I think you get more value trading down a little for him than Alt at #9. But I’d much rather get Powers-Johnson in any trade down, because I’m pretty confident Brax can hold down the LT job.
If he’s there, in my opinion, you take him and move Brax inside.
I honestly had not thought about moving Braxton Jones to guard. I know that happens a lot. We did it with Jenkins and he was a far better G than T. That might be one solid OL with: elite LT - Jenkins G - New Center - Braxton Jones G - Darnell Wright RT. (and Nate Davis as a very solid G backup).
