Right. I said weeks ago that #9 is what we should focus on. Williams is the only safe choice. He can’t afford to miss on Stroud and Williams back-to-back. There’s a 1% chance he blows the interview deliberately to get to the Commanders. I still think that’s what Carter did to get to the Eagles.

I'm thinking the eval process won't just be based on his interview alone. I'm with you in that it's probably not an issue, but hey, you never know. We all want the best QB. That may not be the crowd favorite QB. Like you, I just want them to get this right. This is where Poles earns his salary. I did like his interviews today - a lot. He was very candid. They were commenting how he is more transparent than every other GM in the NFL right now. He is impressive to listen to. I'm confident the Bears will get this right in the end.

I heard him, too. He has kinda committed himself to not trading Fields to a crappy AFC team. He should trade him to a team that has a fighting chance with a good OC, OL, and WRs. If he had his choice, he’d probably want the Falcons. I think they will make an offer.

No thanks on Wilson. He isn't worth the money. I was all for him before we got Justin Fields but so glad we didn't. He has done nothing but hurt the Broncos in almost every meaningful way while also killing them with cap space.

Reset the clock with a rookie QB. Good teams rarely let go good QBs. Plus this is most likely the last time you will have the #1 overall pick in a long time. Getting the Haul doesn't always mean you get the #1 overall pick again next year like we did this year.

Eh, again this isn't my pov, it's what Warren/Poles will want if looking for a KC model. This isn't about winning w/RusWil long term, it's a 1-2 year reorg.

Was listening to H&J this morning on way to work. They were expressing the same sentiments. Which are mainly a fear that the Bears will over-analyze the crap out of this and somehow talk themselves out of making the obvious choice.

I'm keeping the faith in Ryan Poles at this point that he won't fall into "the smartest guy in the room" trap. Williams is the consensus #1 QB in this draft and the consensus best-QB-prospect-in-many-years so, barring something truly unexpected and game-changing coming to light, the Bears need to take him with the #1 pick.

It's simple as that.

I see draftniks, reporters, fans, and clickbait artists all twisting themselves into pretzels trying to justify different scenarios and keep up the intrigue over the #1 pick. SMH

He's the #1 player at the #1 position so you take him with the #1 pick.

Don't overthink it.

Poles said “I am going to do right by Justin”. That means, if possible, he will not trade him to a crap team with terrible OL and WRs. I predict Falcons or Steelers for a second round pick.

Tbh, so far I have faith in Poles not screwing this up. Although he is young and inexperienced, so far he did good, and he has a cool head on his shoulders, so lets us, as this is the most important decision he had to make so far. He already missed on Stroud. He got his yellow card, 2nd one is red (soccer-football).

Joke: maybe we should trade down from 1 to get multiple 1st picks, again, and trade Fields for late 1st rd.
Bagent is our QB1, and we sign a vet for backup. That way we can better the team surrounding him to the maxx. +Tyson already has some exp. W - W
