We might not overtake Lions and Packers in 2024, but Poles has to deliver the goods (Super Bowl ready by 2025). That’s my bottom line.
Man, 2026 its gonna be tough
Players get 4 years to prove themselves. I hold Poles to the same standard, and I don’t accept the excuse that he deserves more time. It was his decision to trash the roster, throwing out the baby with the bath water. He got all these draft picks and cap space, now we’ll see whether he can outsmart Brad Holmes and 30 other GMs. If you put yourself near the back of the pack (Bears 2022), you’d better run faster than everyone else to win the race.
Well, to be fair, I think it is hard for a die hard fan to not feel like the next season can be a good season. Are we all leaning more towards success than reality should indicate? Probably. But the pieces are there. As long as the QB thing is done right. And I don't have any idea what right is. And I bet the Bears are not much better off there.
Yes, Lions are tough. Love unfortunately is yet another great QB. But that does not discount where the Bears are at and where they could be going. So it's valid to say with a snapshot today that the Bears are worse than both the Packers and the Lions. They just are. But that does not have to be the case. The Lions got better. A lot better. I like Warren, and I like Poles. I have my doubts about Flus, but I think the team will be better in 2024. Probably. If they get a new QB, I am not sure I want him to play immediately. They will probably do so however, and I think it will be to the detriment of the team. So lots of ifs there. But just because those two teams are better than we are now does not mean it will stay that way. Bears execs have their work cut out for them as neither the Lions or Packers are standing still waiting for the Bears to get better, but it is not a fait accompli.
Williams will not be sitting on the bench.

I think that end of 2025 is reasonable for Poles. He is gonna have another 2 years with new coaches, and probably new QB. If we dont get into playoffs, I would think about firing him in 2026 too. Super Bowl is too high of a goal for me, as we are not even a playoff team, and we havent been pretty much since Lovie. At this point, I would sign for playoffs.
I hope Warren/Poles/Cunningham can work with the coaching staff input to get it right regarding the QB and the other positions too. I feel that the Bears leadership is smart enough to have learned from past mistakes and understand that this doesn't end with "drafting a QB" thinking you're done. You are NOT done if you do it right this time. If you draft Caleb or Maye, the job is just beginning. This is the start of ensuring that guy reaches his full potential here. Load that offense with rock solid talent and maybe - just maybe - this time around the QB will be everything we hoped for.
Learn from the mistakes of the past. Throwing "good enough" mediocre players at the offense roster gets you failure. It always has here and always will. Because these "hope and a prayer" guys are not good enough.

What Poles did in 2022 is what allowed us to have 2 back to back #1 overall picks. Without that, we wouldn't have DJ Moore, Wright, Stevenson. This team is in a better place because of that. One of the youngest in the league and a chance to draft a generational prospect at QB.
If Williams is as good as they say he is. This franchise can be set for the next 10-15 years. Also we still have the #9 overall pick too.
