I'm just curious how folks are feeling about the Bears overall at this early (very early, admittedly) point in the year? We can revisit this throughout the off season and pre season. But at this early milestone how are you feeling about the team? Positive? Or bad feeling? Anxious? LOL, any of you out on the ledge ready to jump? Just curious to test the temperature of the fanbase :-)

I feel we have an incredible opportunity to get to the next level and secure our playoffs for years to come. In the same time, I feel we gonna eff it up once again.

Depending on how things go, I think we can make a HUGE step towards becoming a perennial playoff contender. We have a lot of draft equity and we have a lot of needs. Done right, we can match those needs, fill the holes and become a more complete team. The QB spectre is the big thing. We play that wrong and we waste all of the rebuild that has happened to date. If we pick the QB right, we get to use the rebuild to date and the additional rebuild that we are going to embark on this year. We pick wrong, and we stagnate while the new players price out, become high priced and we then have to start a new cycle. We have all seen it because that is how we have rolled.
If we go with a new QB, there are lots of gates. First, we have to get the right guy. Then we have to have people to put him in the best position. I don't think any new QB can come in here and play to a high level. I think it takes at least half a year to 2 years to get comfortable. That means we put off really getting to a high level team. But if we get the right QB, it is worth it in the end. If Fields stays AND HE TAKES THE NEXT STEP, with all the additions we could make, we can be that perennial playoff team next year. If he is not going to be that guy, we really have to move on because we need to get that guy. I think it can be him, but the guys running the show need to determine that. My hope is that they make that determination with only the facts and the teams best interests in mind. Not their own self preservation in mind. It is a rare group that can do that, however. I also have doubts about Flus being the mastermind (or any kind of mind) to run the team.
FA is less than a month away and we will start to see how it unfolds, but if we pick wrong on the QB, it could continue to be tough sledding.
It is interesting to see how the outside world rates the Bears. Are they wrong, or are we delusional? Go Google “nfl power rankings 2024” for a sobering experience… The Athletic, PFF, ESPN,, or any others. Everybody has the Bears way behind the Lions and Packers. Maybe they are just projecting 2023 standings into 2024.
Surely, having #1 and #9 is going to get us into 10-12 wins, assuming we can split with the Lions and Packers. I think 2024 comes down to how we stack up with them, and that’s TBD.

Well, to be fair, I think it is hard for a die hard fan to not feel like the next season can be a good season. Are we all leaning more towards success than reality should indicate? Probably. But the pieces are there. As long as the QB thing is done right. And I don't have any idea what right is. And I bet the Bears are not much better off there.
Yes, Lions are tough. Love unfortunately is yet another great QB. But that does not discount where the Bears are at and where they could be going. So it's valid to say with a snapshot today that the Bears are worse than both the Packers and the Lions. They just are. But that does not have to be the case. The Lions got better. A lot better. I like Warren, and I like Poles. I have my doubts about Flus, but I think the team will be better in 2024. Probably. If they get a new QB, I am not sure I want him to play immediately. They will probably do so however, and I think it will be to the detriment of the team. So lots of ifs there. But just because those two teams are better than we are now does not mean it will stay that way. Bears execs have their work cut out for them as neither the Lions or Packers are standing still waiting for the Bears to get better, but it is not a fait accompli.

Williams will not be sitting on the bench.
We might not overtake Lions and Packers in 2024, but Poles has to deliver the goods (Super Bowl ready by 2025). That’s my bottom line.

This is currently where I'm at. I'm just praying Poles doesn't overthink this and try to be the smartest guy in the room (something Bears fans have experienced). CW is right there for the taking.
This is actually why I don't normally watch tape on prospects until after the draft. Last thing I want to do is get attached to some prospect when 95% of the time they're going to be drafted by another team. I made an exception this year since we had the 1st pick and looked like we might draft a QB. Now that I've watched so much of CW in action, I'm going to take it pretty hard if they pass on him.

Been there for months too. Unfortunately, for Fields, we have a chance to finally take QB at 1. Couldve last year (Stroud), at least now draftee will have Moore and hopefully 1 more draftee WR. If we get a quality C and 2nd TE, Fant?, there are enough weapons on O for a rookie QB.
