I even be ok with just one ring and having the next Aaron Rodgers here destroying the Packers for 15 years.
I think all of us hope is that the Bears will build a team that can sustain winning. Right now we just need to watch and see what moves the team makes in this FA and draft. Right now we just don't know what they will actually do.
After 4 quarters, the game was tied 19-19. And there was a missed extra point by the 49ers. Football is a game of team vs. team — not a QB vs. QB. With Harrison, a good center, and a competent OC, and possibly another quality WR at #9 added to the Bears #1-#2 rushing offense, we are top-5 scoring offense with Fields at QB.
This is a dead horse. Don’t bother quoting Fields’ statistics for the 100th time.
The 49ers have 7 all pro players on their team and still lost to Mahomes. A QB who's only good weapon going into the season was Kelce. That's it... They lead the league in drop passes this year.
We just saw what happens when you put an average QB behind a super team. They still lose to elite QB's. That's assuming Fields even gets up to a Tier 2 QB. Purdy looks like a true Tier 2 QB.
Football is a team sport but at the end of the day. There is a reason why teams give up 1-3 first round picks plus more to get a QB.
The chiefs dynasty wouldn't be a thing without Mahomes. They tried it with Alex Smith and many consider Andy Reid a choke artist in the playoffs. Now he's consider an all time great because of one man. Patrick Mahomes. Bill Belichick legacy is built off Tom Brady. We saw what happen when he left. Brady won a Super Bowl while Bill got worse each year.
That all may be true...but if Shanny knew the overtime rules Mahomes may have lost that game.

Greenlaw was having an impact in that game before his freak injury. If they played this game over, I’d still go with the 49ers.
You might be ok with that but the majority of Bear fans rather us having multiple winning seasons and possible multiple rings. I even be ok with just one ring and having the next Aaron Rodgers here destroying the Packers for 15 years.
I'm tired of seeing the 1-2 year super team window then regressing to a bottom tier team for 5-10 years.
2006 Bears? Super team with an awful QB. We lost to the 30th rank Colts defense... 2010 Bears? Most balance team but again an awful QB 2018 Bears? Super defensive team lead by a Tier 3 QB.
You put 2018 Deshaun Watson on that Bear 2018 team and that's a Super Bowl win. Building around an average to below average QB won't win you rings unless you're extremely lucky.
I’m sick of the Fields debate. I think he would perform a lot better with 2-3 Pro Bowl caliber WRs instead of one, a stud center instead of Patrick, and a COMPETENT offensive coordinator instead of Getsy. We may never know. In any case, everyone here is locked into their position. Dead horse.
Until a trade happens. This will be the most talked about thing in the NFL. Not just Bears.

I find it very hard to believe an NFL HC didn't know the rules.

You can find it hard to believe all you want...but multiple 49ers players said they didn't know what the rules were. So even if Shanny knew...he didn't prepare his players for the situation, and he was quoted as saying he thought "a field goal would have been good enough". At the end of the day Reid out coached Shanny and that was the difference in the game.

It is a classic example of how coaching is critically important in the NFL. Player talent matters most. But after that it is coaching that is critically important. Andy Reid was coaching his guys on this back in training camp, and did a refresher teaching before the Super Bowl game. He dots every "i" and crosses every "t" as a coach. He was also the guy who drafted Patrick Mahomes. He is an amazing guy. People in Kansas City said he was comforting people in the crowd yesterday following the shooting there. I didn't know that the fans there call him "Big Red" - they were saying Big Red was in the crowd with the people helping out.

Shanny also said the reason he went first is because if both teams tied. They would get the ball in sudden death.
Seems like he's lying left and right.
Its not that Reid outcoached him. Its that Mahomes outplayed him.

It really was both. And I'm not just talking about the overtime, or even the Super Bowl game. Mahomes and Reid are a great QB1/HC team. That doesn't diminish Mahomes' immense impact. But Reid has assembled a good team with very limited cap. Mahome's contract consumes a greater percentage of the cap than any other team in the NFL... 17.2% of the team’s salary cap with a $35.8 million figure. That was the largest percentage for a quarterback on a Super Bowl winning team this century, passing none other than Brady, who received 12.6% of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ cap when he won his last ring in 2021 (LINK). Reid got it done. Mahomes got it done. Those two are amazing together.

Reid out-coached him. Shanny didn't play...so Mahomes didn't outplay him. Reid was tactically superior. And yes, he had super man playing QB for him.
