Fields is likely gone regardless. He isn't a qb, he's an athlete but doesn't want to play QB the way it needs to be done in the NFL. Even if they keep him this year, he's not going to be here next year no matter the outcome; b/c the outcome won't be playoff success b/c of JF, sure to hell won't be SB. He's not even Dak Presscott good, he sure to hell will not have a better post season career then Dak.
You don’t know his ceiling on a better team with Harrison in 2024 or with some other team.
I know it's not 3.5-4k yards and 30+ td's. Which is the benchark for a franchise qb now. He's not getting an extra 1k and 14 TD's b/c of a rookie WR no matter how good they are. He's not a good qb, he's a good athlete that would rather run; and that isnt what you need in your qb.

As I told MP, if Harrison is drafted and Fields plays 16+ games, he’s going to be 3500+. Ask butkus — our all-22 student.
He won’t throw for 30 TDs, but I just want the ball in the end zone whether by pass or run.
Please no. He will be a bust. He's a smaller Fields. One read then panic imo. Also I don't want Eberflus to get a new QB then we start the coaching cycle all over again the following season leaving us at the same spot we've been in since Cutler
Sorry, this is false.
CW is way, way quicker on diagnosis and release and has way better pocket presence. Only element Fields wins on is running and Caleb is no slouch in that either.
I wouldn't say its totally false. He's often not asked to make more than 2 reads, he holds on to the ball for too long often, and he plays hero ball often and runs around like a chicken with his head off at times. His diagnosis may SEEM to be quicker because he wasn't asked to diagnose a whole lot. The only thing I'll give you is that he does have a quicker release.
I've been resigned to the belief they are drafting for the past few months, but I'm still sad about it and I still think the better team building move is to trade down and add weapons for Fields. I have also always said that Caleb is a TREMENDOUS talent and I get why they'd move on if they did. I just want to keep warning you all that Caleb does a lot of the things that people complain about with Fields...so some of you better buckle up for that.
That's not the evaluations I am reading and watching at all. The idea that CW is just Fields 2.0 is not widely shared.
He has played hero ball too often which leads to fumbles and the "holds the ball too long" thing. He will have to learn to throw it away when its not there in the NFL, no question.
But the long windup, slow release, methodical footwork, unwillingness to attack the middle of the field, poor anticipation, slow processing time, and subpar accuracy in the short game...are Fields >> Caleb in terms of problems.
Justin Fields was the most accurate QB in college football in the last 6 years dude. What one does in college isn't always the same as in the NFL.

The league is moving to QB's like Fields. People need to get over their ideas of what a QB "should be". Offense in any form is offense. You don't have to take my word for it...just watch it happening.

You are preaching to the choir. I have tried for a week to get MP to consider total offense, not just passing yards.
And in addition to that, I can see the other top few QBs in this draft are FAR from sure things... even more risk than Caleb. While I like guys like Nix, Maye and Daniels (and have said so before) they look soooooooooo risky. If I'm Poles and I do draft Caleb, or any of these QBs this year, then I am going to follow up and give the guy the best opportunity to succeed... go all-in on a rock solid coaching, play caller, another receiver and fix that OL to the max. You know - the same things they should have done with Fields but failed to do so.
I wouldn’t put Maye and Daniels in same category. I would rate Maye clearly #2 after Williams. Daniels is more like Fieids, so I would expect Poles to be more interested in Maye. That’s the backup if Williams attitude turns off Poles in the interview.
If anybody needs an eye-opener, check Nix vs. USC game where he threw for 400+ yards and 4TDs.
Maye is a guy I feel uncomfortable with. Fields ceiling > Maye's ceiling I think. Before people jump on me for that, what I mean is Fields with a good coach/play caller and with the upgrades we've talked about with the receivers and offensive line will be better than Maye with the same setup. JMO. I like Nix more than Maye too. Williams is the guy who looks like he could have a very high ceiling and maybe better than Fields. I haven't watched Daniels at all so I have no opinion of him.

Yeah, Maye could be the next Sam Darnold. A big strong-arm guy who looks the part but doesn’t deliver. Like so many, does he have mental game? You never know. I still think Nix is the sleeper in this class, but all these guys can fool us.

I don't know anything. I usually am wrong about these QB's coming out each year.

Wait so I cannot tell how he's going to perform but you can? I call BS, shit tons of BS, this entire post reeks of BS.
Look at all those if's. IF they draft a specific player, IF he plays 16 games, he hasn't played 16 games, and stats show that once an NFL player gets hurt and misses games, they tend to continue to do so, no doubt there are examples of this not being the case, but Fields has played 12-13 and 15 games in 3 years. Obviously rookie year doesn't count, but the trend is already started b/c of last year. Let me guess it also has IF the OC is good, and IF the OL and WR's stay healthy, and IF and IF and IF.
You don't win in the nfl like that, you win in the nfl by your qb throwing.
