Part of the same thing, isn't it? They are changing QBs and Williams is by far the most likely pick to replace Justin.
Well, maybe but I don't think so. Saying they will pick a new QB is not very risky. Saying they will pick Williams is. I think there are issues with him that will probably keep the Bears from going with him.
Gentlemen's bet? I say CW and you say "someone else". We'll see who's right on April 25th.

Williams and Maye are both very different QBs in that Maye is more of a pure pocket passer and he sure looks like an incredible talent in that kind of offense. While Caleb seems more of a Mahomes type of guy who is also a great passer, but more mobile. I like both of them as being better than the rest in this QB class. But maybe the Bears prefer one or the other style QB better for the offense they want to run. Both could probably work for the Bears but one may be optimized for what they want to do. I think Caleb will check out okay as far as the non-football stuff goes. My gut feeling is that a lot of the stuff on social media and the podcast people is overblown or even downright inaccurate stuff. Rumors.
Everything I have read thus far has CW way ahead of any other QB prospect. Some are higher on Maye than others, I grant you.
BTW, Hoge reported that Bo Nix had a really rough day at the Senior Bowl practices yesterday and didn't look good at all. Just one day but bears watching.

I'm going to have to find a gentleman, but Yeah.... I am really not having a real preference. Except I am more leaning away from wanting Williams. But that's not to say that he isn't who they really want. I have no clue. Just watching the train go by.

I've watched tape on both guys (more so on CW). From what I've seen CW is obviously a better prospect. CW isn't perfect but there isn't really anything I see from Maye that you could say he does better than CW. Maye might become a good QB too, but the choice isn't hard from where I'm sitting. I sometimes wonder if analysts like to say stuff like that just to generate drama.
I've watched a little bit of stuff on Nix and the sense I get is he is very much a system QB. Efficient in a good system but nothing spectacular.
Is it a given that we move on from Fields this year if we draft Williams? Maybe we grab Williams (or whoever) and let him sit a year. See what he looks like in training camp etc and make the Fields decision next year?
That would be one of the dumbest moves the Bears could make. Not only do you not get value in trading Fields (2nd round pick). Now you create a locker room situation where some guys will be team Fields while others will be team Williams.
Having Williams sit behind Fields is not like having Love sit behind Rodgers or Mahomes sit behind Smith.
Yeah, he missed on both of them trading away the #1 pick. I’ll buy your legacy when the Bears are Super Bowl ready by 2025. That’s been my standard for Poles, and hasn’t changed. I hope Warren has the same standard.
LOL...whats it like to live in your world man? Neither of them were knowns back then. There were legit questions about both QB's and this was always seen as the better year to draft a QB. Poles would have been a FOOL to pass up on the trade he made and there isn't a person alive but you who would think otherwise. But you go on believing what you believe.
A miss is a miss. The Texans didn’t miss. The Eagles didn’t miss. We will see what happens next. My standard for Poles is Super Bowl ready by 2025. That’s my bottom line on Poles. It won’t change.

Sorry David, that trade down was 100% worth it last year. We even talked about this QB class being better this year. Not only did we get a legit #1 WR on a team friendly deal. We also got the #1 overall pick this year as well as their 2nd round pick next year.
Last year was a complete rebuild year and we needed the picks and players. Its much more different this year. Expect Poles to go after a QB with the #1 overall pick. My bet is Williams. Then we also still got the #9 overall pick.
If we go QB this draft. My standard is playoffs this year and next and maybe 2026 NFC Champ/Super Bowl visit.

I've read the same thing, most see Williams as a better QB than Maye. It sounds like Maye is just a better pure pocket passer, but it's not like Caleb isn't. And it sounds like Williams is a lot more mobile than Maye but it isn't like Maye is a statue... he can be elusive with good pocket presence to elude pass rushers. Maye has a stronger arm than Williams but it's not like Caleb doesn't have a strong arm... he does, but just not as strong as Maye. Maye is a year younger than Williams but both are pretty young guys and not one of these 24 year olds coming out of college like Nix. One difference is that Maye is 6'4" and 230 pounds while Williams is listed as 6'1" but a number of people believe he will end up measuring less at the combine (he sure looks smaller to me) and he is lighter weight than Maye.

I am not crowning his ass until I see a Super Bowl ready team by 2025. You are giving him to 2026. JABF jumps around on this, but I think he’s stlll at 2025. butkus seems to have already crowned his ass.
