Anyone finding they're warming to the Bears drafting Caleb?

But that was Justin Fields' situation when he arrived at Chicago. I'll be honest. I could see Williams turn out to be Patrick Mahomes level, but just as easily I could see him being a "poor man's Justin Fields" here too. If we draft him I hope it is the former and not the latter case.
I'm a Fields guy, but I think the infrastructure here is LIGHT YEARS better than what Fields came into if we were to draft Caleb. He's got a legit #1 receiver, he's got a legit tight end, and he's got a decent to good o-line that could be very good if they address the center position. He will also be getting an experienced play caller with a track record of results. Fields had none of that.
Fields had none of that. I am trying so hard now to let it go and accept that the past is in the past. We can't undo the past. And I admit that my anger over that past regarding the Bears dropping the ball with Fields, does color my view of the QBs available in this draft. It shouldn't. But it does. Having said that, I have been spending more time watching the play of these top QBs who will be available to us in this draft. I watched a number of their games live this year, but have tried to re-watch video of them. I can see why people have Williams and Maye as the top guys in this draft. Both are on a tier by themselves I think. They are very different QBs. Both have positives and negatives. Both will need development to fix and improve areas of their game if they are to reach their potential in the NFL. Some of the things they do in college simply won't work against NFL defenses... but that's true for every QB coming to the NFL. I often catch myself watching these college games and seeing a big play reception - and thinking that the same play in the NFL is an interception. And I see these guys do things that the fans get upset with Fields about too. They miss seeing open guys too. They make bad decisions with the ball at times too. And it probably shouldn't bother me so much, but Caleb looks smaller to me than the 6'1" they have him listed at. That's not a deal breaker but in some ways he is a smaller Justin Fields (in some ways)... that's my take anyway when I see him doing "Justin Fields' stuff" in games.
Listening to Caleb talk I like the guy.
I've watched that video (and I saw it initially "live") where Caleb ran to his parents and was crying. I don't have a problem with that at all. The guy cares. That was a HUGE game to him and the guy is 100% a competitor and the loss truly broke his heart. Yesterday I saw a LOT of tears shed by grown men players who lost. Nothing wrong with caring and wanting to win SO badly that you cry after a loss.
BTW, I have watched some of his high school game videos and he has always played with that passion... the dude never gives up. That's a good thing to have and it's good for the teammates too. In some of those games he just "refused to lose" when others would have given up.
With any of these guys you just hope they can handle the limelight and fame well once they go to the NFL. Fields has. And there is no reason to think Caleb (or Maye) won't. If the guys dad has been quoted accurately as being behind the talk about not playing for certain teams, or wanting part ownership of a team that signs Caleb... that's the dad. Not Caleb. And I'm sure stuff got overblown by the social media people, and even the podcast people too who spin stuff for viewers to feed on. I'm thinking Caleb may be a very good young man who has been judged unfairly at times. JMO.
I'll be fine if the Bears keep Justin, or draft Williams or Maye (Maye is a really really good pocket-passer QB if the Bears want that kind of QB).
