Anyone finding they're warming to the Bears drafting Caleb?

I made it a point to watch him play this year.  Maybe I just caught his "bad" games.  His OL was better than what Fields had this year... at least in the games I watched.  He is a lot like Fields in that one sense of holding onto the ball too long when it is NOT necessary - and he sometimes makes his own problems (admittedly this is a problem with Fields too).  Not saying Fields = Williams.  They ARE two different QBs.  One other point, I'm not a fan of Caleb's height... I'll bet he does not measure what they have him listed at right now.  

I get that too, but I just don't think it works quite that way in reality. There are a handful of OC's that can flip what they are trying to do, it's like finding the CJ Stroud qb in the draft that can perform in his rookie year w/out a healthy support system. You can look for a unicorn, but you aren't likely to find that guy. 

My guess is Warren/Poles/Flus listened to all the candidates on Fields, and the rookie qb's took into account what they were saying and picked the most qualified one that also matched w/what they were looking at doing; or unlikely, swayed them into believing what they were saying. In the end though, the qb the bears will have isn't necessarily the best qb out of all given options, it will be the qb that most closely matches what they want out of that qb. 

Theoretically what you are saying is the way it should be, just doesn't appear to ever be the case in practice.

CW's release is wayyyyy faster than Fields.  His short game accuracy and ball placement are way better too.

Williams was understandably criticized for playing hero ball too often (leading to increased TTT) last season as he was often playing from behind and on a shit team.  He will need to be coached there but his "mental clock" and delivery is way quicker than Justin's is no matter how much the "Build around Fields crowd" wants to deny it.  

Fields has had 3 years and 40 games.  When do the excuses end?

Cmon, I watched USC this year.  The Bears' offense was (far) worse than USC's talent and coaching - and it is not even close.  LOL, did you watch them play this year?  Seriously, did you watch any of their games?  Williams had better everything than what the Bears had this year on O.  And they played some pretty soft defenses in comparison to the bigboy conferences.  I "get it" that you don't want Fields here.  I think you will get your wish.  And you could be right about Williams being better here on the Bears... could very well be the case.  But I think you are going a bit overboard about "poor Caleb" at USC.
