Anyone finding they're warming to the Bears drafting Caleb?

I agree, definitely.  It just seemed to me that it was a lot failed stuff in 4th quarters of games.  Comedy of errors that would make you cry.

EDIT:  but the blocking failures were super frustrating to watch too.  Gotta agree.

tl:dr: Brasil meanders around writing nothing substantial at all, you can safely skip this post and save the 3 minutes it would take you to read it for something else...like making a cup of coffee.

I see the two problems going hand in hand. Getsy struggled to adjust once off his script because (IMO) he wasn't particularly creative or strategic in his play calling. This was impacted by Fields' inability to execute the routine plays an NFL QB has to make--slants, dump offs... (I know he did them some of the time, again pointing to the exceptions to the rule doesn't mean my statement isn't true.) Fields in turn was handicapped by Getsy's inability to adjust to pressure, to move the pocket and to scheme. Which in turn was handicapped by Fields hunting for chunks (which I'm convinced led him to hang on to the ball for just one more second to see if Moore/Mooney/someone would run clear downfield but then...)

I also noticed that Fields wasn't running as dynamically this season as he did last season. Part of that was defenses not letting him. But again IMO the biggest problem was Getsy calling the wrong QB keeper running plays. Fields (IIRC) last season ran better out of spread formations, using QB draws. This season it seemed the QB runs were all "take the snap, and follow Scott after he does his jet motion right to the spot where the LB has come down to stop a jet sweep. Scott will take the LB and Fields you need to make the NT and EDGE to that side miss you in the backfield. Don't worry, Taylor and Tonyon will be there leading the way. Try and go right between the EDGE and the pinching LB."

It was a perfect storm of two flawed individuals each being forced to rely on each other. And then there was the OL.

A better OC might have been able to break the cycle by trying different things, but Getsy seemed to only see one solution to try again and again (Screen passes!!!) A better QB might have been able to execute the called plays better or been able to operate within the structure better.

Watching the games this weekend I was struck again by how effortlessly the QBs played and how plays called complimented the OFF and addressed the DEF. How many times did Mahomes and Allen check down to a wide open RB or TE for 5-6 yards? Did you see the fake WR screen that resulted in the Packer WR wide open downfield? That wasn't the result of throwing screen after screen, because the Packers didn't throw all that many WR screens. But the receiver took a step back, the two other WRs picked their blocking targets, Love turned...and it looked like a WR screen until he flicked the ball downfield. They set that play up perfectly, holding it until they needed it. SF had been waiting for a WR screen and the down/distance/time seemed right for GB to run it. So they faked it. Again, watch the video on the play design that GB used against Dallas. Like I said before I don't fear Love, I fear LeFleur. 

And the fact that Fields never really pulled a Cutler and told Getsy to go @#!& himself makes me think he never really took full ownership of his leadership position on the team. How do you sit back there, bad play call after bad play call, and not go rogue at some point?
