context motm. JF1's already a Top 6 QB taking into account his pass blocking PFF's grading of the O Line. This doesnt even take into account Getsy's lack of quick slants and creativity.

I'd say the overwhelming consensus on here goes along with the media narrative, that Poles takes Caleb Williams. Is anyone else even slightly concerned by any red flags? I saw a report that he has had a team of publicists working with him since he was 16 years old. Or is everyone feeling totally confident in CW as a person, team leader & player to succeed in the NFL?

No, not that comfortable with his whole package. Think future negotiations might be a nightmare. But for a superstar QB might be willing to put up with it. It’s just that I’m not sure he will even succeed in the NFL, much less be a superstar. It’s all a gamble with any of these guys

I know I am concerned. I was reading that Taylor Lewan whom is an OL said he was concerned about him. Said he really only cared about himself, so it seemed and showed up at the combine for the interviews and the free stuff.
Sure his talent may be incredible and comparable to some great QB's but again will he go all in at training camp? Will he get a boo-boo ankle and rest so he doesn't have to sweat.
I know that is the case with every player picked but with someone who has so much hype........ Well I sure hope I get a chance to eaten American crow on this but I don't feel it with him.

Every person who has covered him closely only says glowing things about his character and leadership. All the "bad" stuff is almost always people taking things out of context of over emphasizing things for click bait. Is he Jesus? No, but no one is and it's unfair to expect that.
He's someone who grew up in an age of social media. It's not surprising he and his family take advantage of it where possible. I want someone to explain why this is a bad thing. Would you prefer he be foolish with his money and talent like so many other players? If anything it proves he has something going on between his ears which many players do not.
The amount of scrutiny this guy gets is just nuts. I don't know if it's because people think he's to good to be true, or they're just trying to tear him down for some personal dislike.

+1 He has been under a microscope of scrutiny in a big market (Los Angeles & California). That is good experience for coming to the Chicago sports market where some athletes just can't handle the pressure here. This guy seems strong in that area to me.
I began wondering about CW when it first seemed like we would draft him. I'd heard all the criticisms. They were either WAY overblown or downright untrue. But some fans seem to believe anything they hear anymore. The more I looked into him and his background, the more I like the guy. Seems like a really good young man. Like every player, he won't be perfect. But I think he'll be a "face of the franchise" here that we can be proud of. Smart, polished and professional guy. Yes he cried after a loss... same as we saw some of the 49er players after the recent SB loss (yes, some of these guys want to win so badly that they cry after a hard loss). The fingernail thing is way overblown. We forget that these are college kids. They do weird things. If that's CW's worst negative I'm fine with that. In fact I'd be ecstatic.
