I don't disagree but isn't their first question of Poles gonna be: "who am I coaching at QB?"
Wouldn't the Bears listen to each one of these candidates proposed plan for the offense they want to run here - for both Fields and a rookie? They should be able to get some excellent input this way even though they'll only hire one of the candidates. If I were interviewing I'd LOVE to get that input. I would be interested to know how these guys would handle different QBs too. Are they able to adjust? How?
Those candidates are gonna have to show that, cause the Bears aren't gonna divulge their plans at QB to someone who isn't under contract.

tl:dr Look at OC for Eagles. Chargers and Vikings.
-----
Eagles OC history:
1yr 23-24 Brian Johnson 2yrs 21-22 22-23 Shane Steichen 1yr 20-21 Doug Pederson HC/OC 2yrs 18-18 19-20 Mike Groh 2yrs 16-17 17-18 Frank Reich 3yrs 13-14 14-15 15-16 Pat Schumer
Hurts was drafted in 2020. he's had 3 different OCs
Chargers OC history: 1yr 23-24 Kellen Moore 2yrs 21-22 22-23 Joe Lombardi 2yrs 19-20 20-21 Shane Steichen 3yrs 16-17 17-18 18-19 Ken Whisenhunt 2yrs 14-15 15-16 Frank Reich
Herbert is on his 3rd OC
Vikings
2yrs 21-22 22-23 Kevin O'Connell HC-calls OFF plays 1yr 20-21 Klint Kubiak 1yr 19-20 Gary Kubiak 1yr 18-19 Kevin Stefanski 1yr 17-18 John DeFilippo 1.5yrs 15-16 16-17 Pat Shurmur (replaced Turner midseason) 2.5yrs 13-14 14-15 Norv Turner (part of 15-16 as well)
Wow, never realized that Zimmer ran through 6 OCs in 8 years!! Cousins is on his 4th different playcaller in 5 seasons.
------------
Not trying to make a point, just interested. Read somewhere that the average OC stays 2 years with a team, either gets a HC job or is replaced.

And the answer will be: "either Fields, Caleb, Maye, or Jayden...give me a plan for each of them. And oh...give me a plan for Bagent in case one of them gets hurt and he has to start."
This is exactly what they are going to ask. And if the OC is worth anything he's going to know that going in. Both the Texan's and Panther's coaches didn't know what they were getting when they got hired either. I think some people are making way too much of this.

Yup
Yup, and which one isn't like the others?
One of them comes with only one do-or-die year. The others will have far more leash to work with.
I'm not pulling this consideration out of thin air. Lots of observers and analysts are mentioning it as a possible sticking point.

Agree
Poles can't answer the question cuz it would be all around the NFL in about 2 hours if he did.

And Ryan Poles specifically talked about this in the press conference. He said they were going to have each guy tell them how they would use "the four quarterbacks" which has social media fired up wondering what he meant by "four quarterbacks"... did he let something slip there or was he just talking about Fields and different types of QB? Interesting comment there, but obviously Poles and the Bears are going to want to hear these young candidates map out their plan.

He actually said that he never said 4 and that if he had, he had misspoken. He said there were more

But you wonder if he let something slip there. LOL, I do. I have my tin foil hat on now :-)
