The one guy I was instantly intrigued with is DE Jamree Kromah. He played 3 years at Rutgers and prior to the 2023 season transferred to James Madison University. He was a member of a high performing small school defense at JMU. 59 total tackles (solo + assists), 19.5 TFL and 10 sacks. He has freakish athletic skills (see attached RAS score sheet).
His draft profile scouting report (LINK) mentions he could end up being a 3-Tech DL. It also says: "He’s muscular with very long arms and might have the frame for additional weight to bump inside."
Maybe the Bears see him as a project 3-T guy.
I think he could end up playing every position on the DL and be disruptive. Not form day 1, but he might be surprising us by the end of the 2024 season.

Williams hasn't signed yet despite rumblings that they were talking contract with him way before the draft. Probably a bad omen for when they don't have the easy draft slots for players just drafted. His contracts are gonna be a bitch.

Shouldn't be. I thought it was a set amount for every pick?

My impression was that there was a very narrow range. But of course, there is an infinite amount of stuff other than salary to ask for. Possibly he is asking for some unconventional stuff

While the CBA has greatly simplified signing rookies, it does take some time to get everyone signed. Rome hasn't signed yet either. I'll bet that both Caleb & Rome will sign soon. The CBA sets tight parameters for these contracts so it's not like there are "problems" with these guys' signing. I just figure it takes a bit of time to go through the process. Here are two good articles that explain it a lot better than I can. Only 2 of the top-10 picks in this year's draft have signed their contracts as of today. None of the top-5 have signed yet. In fact most of the entire 1st round is un-signed at this point.

+1 I'll bet that over the next month we'll see everyone signed. Not just Bears but most players will. The Seahawks just finished signing their last player - their entire class is under contract as of a couple days ago.
