Not sure if it's a pay article or not, but here are the 14 candidates (in order in the article):
Greg Roman Frank Reich Eric Bieniemy Thomas Brown Jim Caldwell Kellen Moore Darrell Bevell Marcus Brady Brian Callahan Klint Kubiak Mike LaFleur Zac Robinson Frank Smith Kliff Kingsbury
I'm sure Flus will grab us the pick of the litter
I did some digging around looking for other social media posts/discussions about potential HC candidates and found two other names. Shane Waldren and Pep Hamilton. I'm assuming Waldren is available as his boss just got sacked.
But IMO, the next OC had better have two serious strong points. First, a history of coaching QBs in a productive passing game. Second a history of being a play caller.

Is it really? Were you really expecting anything differently? Especially after reaching what many of us thought would be the win total? I'm not the least bit shocked or surprised, nor am I feeling "defeated".
No surprise here. Getsy was definitely going to be a scapegoat even though Fields is one of the main reasons our offense has sucked for years. OCs are an easy target.
LOL really? Have you actually watched the play design? Was it Fields who designed Trent Taylor being responsible for blocking Rashaan Gary? LMAO!!!

Of all these names, I hope we can find one.
I fixed it for you
Actually, I think there are a couple in that larger list (including the other two I found while looking around). Whether or not they are interested in the Bears (or Flus) might be a different story.

This is an interesting observation. I predicted between 7-9 wins I believe. I'm wildly optimistic most of the time. I'd say that as far as wins go, the objectives were hit. I did think a wildcard run was in the stars and if i squint, well...they were until the last two games.
But, it feels "defeating" because so much (IMO) was left on the table (3 wins and 2 games where the Bears looked totally unprepared) that my sense of.....homerism...demands answers.
I'm not surprised that Flus stayed and Getsy was fired. I expected it. But my little homer inside is not happy. He's not happy Bob.

I feel the same way. I'm actually feeling pretty positive about it all.

I went back and looked at my own predictions for wins this past season. Initially I had it at 5 or 6 wins. Later I upped it to 7 to 8 wins. The first half of the season was a train wreck but the team kicked it into a higher gear the last half of the season and was definitely improving. The 8-point loss to Green Bay to end the season was a hard loss. And the Getsy problems were all there to see. He got fired and now we can upgrade there (that list of available OC's has some outstanding names on it). I am feeling pretty good about it all when I factor in the immense draft resources we are holding and cap dollars available. People are jumping off ledges after this 1st year of the rebuild and it seems pretty bat shit crazy to me... but that's me and maybe I'm wrong about this. But I've gotta feel like the arrow is pointing up here.

Yes, I feel defeated. It was the way we lost those games. Games we should have won. Bad in-game decisions. Bad game-planning, play design and play-calling. On both O and D. Yes the D improved, yes he held the team together, but against weak opponents. I just don't have any confidence in Flus. Now we have him for 1 year, a lame duck. Worried about what decent OC wants a potentially one year job.
Maybe an experienced quality HC can be calling the O or D plays, but I don't trust a rookie/short timer HC to do that. I suspect Flus' workload led to poor in-game decisions.
My glass is normally half full, but today it's 3/4 empty.
Ecstatic that Getsy and his subordinates are gone. So I guess after all that is said, my glass is 1/4 full.
