BTW, he could have solved the right tackle problem by drafting Abe Lucas instead of V. Jones.  It is an open question whether Wright will even turn out to be a better RT than Broderick Jones or Dawand Jones.

Again, you are assuming Carter will be amazing & trouble-free and Dexter won't be nearly as good.  We have seen time and again what Poles values -- size (esp. "length"), aggressiveness, and absence of character or locker room concerns.  

The latter two account for he did NOT draft Pickens and Carter and for why he DID draft Wright and Stevenson.  He doesn't want divas, knuckleheads, and embarrassments--a rule-of-thumb I'm sure was driven home after he took a chance on Claypool and got burned badly for it.
