Cousin is a pad stating QB. Struggle against good teams and put up amazing numbers against bad teams. If you have a record of not being able to win big games. Then I rather go after a rookie QB then spend the millions of dollars.
Oh I agree, we have the worst QB in the NFL. Some of it isn't his fault though. Outside of DJ Moore. Fields has no one to throw the ball too.
Don’t forget Kmet. He’s got 70 receptions. Add Harrison to Moore and Kmet gives Fields three excellent targets. I also want a slot receiver, but that’s another story.
Kmet has been a very solid receiving TE this year. I wouldn't say he's at DJ Moore level or even a top 15 TE in the NFL. But we really do need Harrison here to add to our WR core.

I believe the Bears have won 1 game against a team that currently has a winning record (Detroit). Their record is deceiving against a below average SOS. This year they might be able to hire a proven NFL head coach (Harbaugh) and draft a generational QB talent. Trade to #2 or 3 and get a QB and extra picks. Trade Fields for a first.

Yes and no...the Cardinals just beat the Eagles...who were in the Super Bowl last year and are Super Bowl contenders this year. The Bears beat them, and were beating them handily until they took the foot of the gas last week. They should have beat the Browns and gave them a really tough test, and the next week the Browns BLEW THE DOORS off the Jets, who have as a legit a defense as you can have in the league. The Falcons were playoff contenders and had a top 10 defense in the league coming into the game. This wasn't some patsy defense the Bears just lit up. They are legit.

Welcome to the forum. Your facts are correct, but it is always possible to “spin” the wins and losses into a more favorable-looking record. The Cowboys and Dolphins also beat up on sub .500 teams and lose to teams over .500.

Harbaugh isn't coming here. Bears fans (mostly) understand that. Every year we read about the "can't miss" and "generational talents" who promptly crap the bed at the NFL level and bust. As far as the Bears record, sure, taken in a vacuum they are simply a 7 or 8 win team this year. But knowledgeable NFL fans understand what that the Bears have undergone a total nuking (scorched earth nuking) of their roster during a tank year that was perfectly executed by Poles. We are going to experience further benefits from that in this next 2024 draft - yet another 1st pick of the entire draft.
I mean, we (the Bears) are in a very very good position, one season removed from that tank year. Almost every single poster here predicted a record THIS season of 5 to 8 wins. We are seeing that happen. Regarding Fields I think we may see him traded for financial reasons, resetting the QB1 salary for the team. I get that. But, like you, I want to see the Bears spend the top picks in this draft on MHJ and maybe they can somehow swing Newton too. Then come back and upgrade the OL (get a great center and better depth). And like you have mentioned, double-down and get another WR in addition to MHJ... this seems to be an outstanding draft to do that.
I guess my only point is that I can't see reasons for any negativity here regarding the Bears. We are in a far better position than we have been in for many years. Just keep building upon this 1st season's rebuild effort. 2023 was a very very good year for the Bears rebuild. But it's just the 1st year. 2024 should be a ton better. And (like you) I believe 2025 is our super bowl ready year. Not saying it "will" happen but it is certainly more likely to happen than anytime in the past several years here. Don't tear anything down now. Build. Build on this nice foundation of a young ascending team. I would be really sad (just being honest here) if the Bears spent that 1st pick on Caleb Williams. I think he could very well bust at the NFL level - I worry that he doesn't have the mental gears for the NFL in general, and for sure he would be crushed in the Chicago QB1 environment. Fields is one tough dude emotionally and has weathered the firestorm of Chicago fans and media - and come out the other side with Soldier Fields fans screaming "We Want Fields" and now the Chicago beat reporters seem to be coming around to that also (not all but many). I'm pumped for 2024 and especially for 2025 here.
This is where I am currently at with Fields (all this assumes Getsy is gone):
(1) I don't doubt Fields can be a "take you to the playoff QB" (similar to Goff) with the right pieces around him. I doubt Fields can be the difference maker a SB contending team needs.
(2) Having said that, I would NOT use this draft to replace him, rather I would identify which team the Bears can get the greatest haul from (picks or picks+player) and trade down, making sure I still got either WR1 or WR2 in the draft. I would use the Bears first round pick for the best DT/edge. Add a C in the second. If Poles can identify the right team, he has another chance at a high pick in 25 to get a QB to groom or replace Fields. FA for a G (again...sigh) and depth at OL and TE, along with any interesting defenders that other teams shake loose.
(3) I lack the faith to think that Fields will suddenly bloom into something he has not shown us at this point. What the team and fans can not do is fall into the "good-enough" trap.
(4) Unless Fields makes the Pro-Bowl on the first ballot, his 5th year option would be $23.25mil (goes to 32.96 if he's first ballot PB). I would pick that up. Its chump change with the cap going up.
All this is subject to change of course. A big win in GB would move me slightly in a positive direction. A face plant would move me a long way in a negative direction.
I'd like to see the Bears go into next season on OFF with: Moore/first-round-WR/FA-WR/Scott/Jones (he isn't going anywhere sadly)/late-round-wr and Kmet/draft-pick-TE/Lewis. Line of Wright--FA RG--rookie/FA C--Jenkins--Jones*.
DEF gets a FS (Jackson replacement), rookie LB project *(I have a soft spot for rookie LB projects), best DT/edge Bears can draft, assorted FA and draft picks.
*Jones....I'd quietly see if I could improve here, but there are other areas more in need of help.

Is it enough?
I'm sorry, but the answer is no. Just because he had two decent games against a bad Falcons teams and the abysmal Cardinals is nothing to be proud of. Especially when you've only thrown for more than 300 yards once this season.

I'm with brasil above. Fields' may not be good enough. We can do better than Fields. Just not this draft. Maybe next year. We have more dire needs at other positions than to gamble on yet another QB this year. Let's finish his rookie deal and see what we have with a better OLine, better WRS and a real OC. (Hopefully).

This year has better QB draft prospects than last year or next year. The reason we didn't do it last time was because it was the start of the rebuild and we needed picks. Now that we by luck got the #1 overall pick. Its hard to justify not getting a real QB.
If he's an average QB who can only give you 8-9 records. The cost to moving up to get a true QB will set this franchise back 2 years with first round picks. Its a very deep WR class so even missing out on Harrison and Nabers ain't the end of the world. Missing out on this QB class would be as next year ain't looking great.
2024 should be year of the fresh start. New HC, new OC, and new QB.
