It is an interesting article that kicks around the same stuff we have been talking about here. FWIW. Oh, and this is not behind a paywall if you sign up with the Chicago Sun Times for free viewing of their articles.
LINK Bears QB Justin Fields has improved, but is his development exponential, rapid enough? That’s the big question GM Ryan Poles has to ask himself as he weighs keeping Fields versus drafting a new QB.
With mhj, a true C and an honest to goodness OC, I think he's good enough. Would I want better? Yes. But I don't see better in the next draft or FA yet.

And if that is true, then completing the offense talent has the added benefit that if Fields does not prove to be the guy with that talent, then the next guy at QB1 steps into a far far better situation than Bears QB's have had here in like forever.

Lets not forget Bagent, right OC could develop that guy. NOT Getsy.
I am still not sure how we could skip on Caleb though, who I think is an awesome talent.
I know. I just hope the Bears get it right. And I admit I'm not sure what is best for the team here.
Yeah, I think he’s improved enough. But is that even the right question to ask? How about this one: Can the Bears afford to pass on Harrison — Randy Moss 2.0? I say no way in hell. If Poles wants a new QB, use the other first round pick for that. There are other good QB prospects in this draft besides Williams/Maye, and as you say, drafting a QB is always a crap shoot anyway. Drafting Harrison #1 is not. He’s the best player in this draft. Harrison, Moore, Kmet gives Fields all the fire power he needs, although I still want a slot receiver to boot.

Yeah. What gives the team the most improvement, drafting Caleb and missing on MHJ, or keeping Fields and getting MHJ? Even assuming Caleb is better than Fields (and we don't know for sure that he will be), is that going to result in a greater impact to the team than Fields with MHJ? I keep thinking Fields with DJ Moore, - and Marvin Harrison Jr and an elite DL guy and a solid C would be a huge upgrade for the overall team. And it sounds like this is a good WR draft, so yeah, double-dip and get another WR in this draft a bit later. If the Bears can bring in a better offensive coordinator and we also have all of these upgrades on offense (and a great addition to the DL too... Newton would be fantastic). That just sounds mighty good for our future. Better than Caleb and no MHJ.

If Fields plus these other upgrades makes us Super Bowl ready by 2025, I don’t really care if Williams goes HOF with some other team. If not, we might have regrets for a long, long time. Either way, 2024 will be a memorable year in franchise history.
