Im glad u boys are 100% sure on Jr being a superstar. Unfortunately, it doesnt work that way.
Usually that is my stance on the draft. In the past 30 years I have not (ever) felt like anyone in any draft was a "sure thing" but I am changing that this one time because Marvin Harrison Jr is a Hall of Fame player at the NFL level. I have not seen a WR with his talent coming out of college. I just haven't. I believe he will be better than his Hall of Fame, dad too. The only thing that can stop a Hall of Fame career for MHJ would be injuries. Because this kid is a day-1 stud.
I have the feeling the Bears will not draft him. And that will be a huge mistake. It will break my heart.
EDIT: In fact, now that I think about it, I have not felt a player was a "sure thing" coming out of the draft for 60+ years and that includes guys like Dick Butkus, Gale Sayers, Walter Payton... and every other HoF guy I can think of. But I do believe this Harrison Jr guy is going to be one of the best to ever play the game at WR. I don't make that claim lightly. But this guy is so special... like "Jerry Rice special" - the Bears need to get this done. Unfortunately they will draft some guy who WILL bust. I just feel it in my bones. The Bears will blow this once-in-forever opportunity. And us fans will still be whining about the offense being broken as the years march on. If the Bears want to get the offense-curse here in Chicago they need to go all-in on talent there. All in. Marvin Harrison Jr. in a Bears uni is going all in.
It worked that way for Randy Moss, didn’t it? The only thing that’s going to stop him is a broken knee.
It worked for hundreds of guys. But, there is no 100%. And QB is waaaay more important...
I agree with your assessment on MHJ. There is no guarantee that he really is the 2nd coming of (insert your personal GOAT WR here). With getting a #1/#2 right there is a huge potential reward. But there is a concurrent risk of your pick being a failure and becoming a huge total bust.
And this is equally true for Caleb Williams, or anyone else taken at the very top of the draft. I never saw this much discussed here, but I might have missed it. Did anyone see this quote from Williams about wanting a part ownership in the team that drafts him (link)? I am not saying that this will become one of his requirements. But if at all true, negotiations with Williams could make the ones we had with Roquan Smith look like the Boy Scouts.

I saw that mentioned around here and I still hope its a joke or a hoax. I really really think/hope so.
Dont get me wrong folks, im on the draft Jr and keep JF train 75% of the time, but lets not pretend drafting a WR with pick 1 is not rolling a dice, because it def is.
Also, thing that bugs me is that I dont see how we get pick 1 in no time soon again. Remember, this is Panthers pick. And the situation you can get franchise changing guy.

I don't believe he can demand a minority interest in a team as part of contract negotiations. I read somewhere (link) that it is against NFL rules. But it could be a signal that, like Roquan, he wants to right some past wrong by becoming wealthy or something.

I partly disagree.
There is no 100% guarantee on anything but death and taxes.
However, the RISK of missing is VERY low with Harrison and always HIGH when drafting a QB (I refer you to JABF’s data on that topic).
Finally, QB is more important if you NEED a QB. In my judgment, Fields is good enough to get Bears Super Bowl ready by 2025 IF we get Harrison, a good center, and better coaching.
It is possible that, even with these upgrades, Fields’ flaws and inconsistencies will continue, while Williams will take some other team to the Super Bowl.
It will be Poles’ job to get this done right — one way or the other. If Bears are Super Bowl ready by 2025, I will happily join the Poles bandwagon. If not, I will continue my membership in the Fire Poles Society.

He probably wouldn't want ownership of the Bears anyway... he's wanting to own one of the best teams in the league like the KC Chiefs, 49ers or he might "settle" for Green Bay (the city as well as the team if he goes that route).

I honestly like the idea of grabbing MHJ with our first pick. But I would like to see us trade down a couple of spots and grab him in the top 5. BUT the big problem is the Cards.
The best scenario would be the Cards winning enough to get them to 3. Then we could get a good bidding war for the top QB. Should be a fun two weeks of seeing how the dominoes fall for the top 5 picks.
