There's no question that keeping Fields makes things way easier in the short run. Heck, every single one of us wants JF to be the guy.
Today's game was a major step forward. Probably Fields' best performance of his career so far. Top-3 at least. As I said in the chat during the game, he would have had 4 TDs and over 300 yards passing if Tyler Scott just made plays he should have made.
I wanna see him do it again next week on the road vs Green Bay and if he does, he's for sure gonna be back. If the Rappoport report about Flus is true, he is probably already back as I can't see them keeping Flus and changing QBs.
BTW, Jordan Love already has 3600 yards passing this year and he has a game-and-a-half still to go in the season. This is Jordan freakin' Love we are talking about here. So there's zero reason for Fields to not be THROWING for 3500 minimum next season. I'm tired of hearing excuses.
PS: No one has yet explained to me how we are replacing Getsy. How is that gonna work? Who the hell does Flus have pull with to hire? Or are we keeping him despite him and Fields being a mismatch?
If Poles drafts Harrison, offensive coordinator for the Bears would be a dream job for somebody.
A new OC needs to be hired way before the draft. And being the Bears OC has never been a "dream job".
I can't see Flus, a 2-yr defensive-tree HC with a losing record, having a lot of influence or appeal among the best OC candidates.
No one has yet explained to me how this is gonna work. If we end up with another 3rd-rate OC who's learning on the job, how will that help Fields get to where he needs to get to?

Bears are in position to assure we get Harrison, if Poles doesn’t screw it up. It is Flus’s job to convince candidates that Poles isn’t going to screw it up. Besides Harrison, he has the cap space and draft picks to completely fill out the rest of thee offense. It is a dream job.

While we were all joking about Jordan Love (finally) ending the GB quarterback legacy, he was getting better and better. He is a legit good QB now. Dude has legit talent. He looks every bit as good as Aaron Rodgers did in his 1st starting season. Love will end up with pretty much the same passing yards and completion percentage, passer rating as Rodgers did in his first year of starting for the Packers. He is a legit ascending talent now.
I would agree that he is definitely looking better and better. Ironically, when Matt LaFleur went to a more vertically-oriented pass attack, that's when he really started to shine (sound familiar?).
Keep in mind his best receiver is Watson who is made of glass and misses a lot of time. It's not like he's throwing to 3 pro-bowlers there. Yet, he has a rating of nearly 92 and will end up with over 4000 passing yards. So it's not out-of-line for me to ask Fields to throw for at least 3500.

I was just listening to Greg Gabriel talk about how bad Luke Getsy is for this team. He made a curious statement when he said Justin Fields has yet to be coached at the NFL level. I know that's obviously hyperbole, but I think that Jordan Love has had the opportunity to watch and learn from a Hall of Fame QB and he is in a much better coaching situation than Fields has had with Nagy/Getsy. Getsy at GB was not an OC, and if the truth was known he probably had very little influence on Aaron Rodgers at all... AR probably used the guy to make his coffee runs and wash his car. Not coaching as an OC like he's trying to do now for the Bears. Gabriel was saying the play calling is crippling for this offense. I think that is the primary reason why Fields hasn't performed better as a passer. Oh, and Gabriel also made the point that opposing defenses know what the Bears are going to run on a play when they line up for a play... it is that bad. Finally, in the podcast today he said Getsy flat isn't playing to Fields' strengths in the passing game. As an example he mentioned the play on the 6-yard line today where they tried one of those bubble screens that fooled nobody and lost yardage. Getsy has been part (I believe a BIG part) of the reason why Fields hasn't thrown for more yardage. Not saying it's all Getsy's fault. But I am saying he is a significant part of the problem.
Understatement. You'd need a great defense to win a Super Bowl with 3,000 yards in the current NFL environment. That should just be a concession point, not something to fight to the death in the dirt over.
Have you seen the video where Corey Wooten says he wants to draft Harrison and Newton? He makes the same argument or keeping Fields as I do.

On Adam Ranks podcast he mentioned the Bears reaching out to an OC, or having interest in an OC thats out there "who has never been an HC before". That was the only clue he would give as to not give away too much info from his source. With that being the clue one could connect some dots and think maybe Greg Roman. He's never been an HC that I can remember.
As for Love...he's also got 200 more attempts than Fields does. I appreciate La Fleurs willingness to throw the ball and let Love work it out. He's attempted 35 or more passes in 8 games this season. Fields has done that 4 times. Love has thrown 40 or more passes 4 times to Fields 1. Just different offenses and different QB's. Hopefully if the Bears add another weapon or 2 on offense the passing game opens up more.

Aaron Rodgers only attempted 536 passes to get over 4k passing yards his first season as a starter, Love has already thrown it 547 times to get his 3800.

Jayden Reed is a DUDE and Doubs is also a good receiver. They don't have any pro bowlers but they go 3 deep with legit receivers...we've got Tyler Scott dropping passes all over the joint.

My only point is that they are in the same ball park. Love will top 4k this season too. Yes, he has an extra game and more attempts, but the two QBs first seasons are reasonably close stat wise. A lot of Bears fans were talking like Jordan Love was trash. He is a pretty decent QB now and he is going to get better. I get it. Bears fans are tired of GB having great QBs (four hall of famers once AR joins the Hall). But Love is good.
Jordan Love is a solid QB. Dear I say the best QB in the NFC North?
Kirk Cousins is overrated and Jared Goff is Jared Goff.
Packers really screwed themselves in the foot for not letting go of Aaron Rodgers during his MVP run. They could of got 3 first round picks, a few players and etc.. That franchise could of been so deep with draft picks and young good players right now.
