A few positive thoughts about where the Bears are at now.

Would the same logic lead you to decide that the recent precipitous drop in QBR require KC to cut ties with Mahomes?  His QBR dropped from 79.0 to 62.5 for much the same reasons (reduced effectiveness in OL play, lack of big plays by his playmakers).

Early in the season receivers were running open, especially over the middle of the field, and Justin didn't see them (or recognize it or get the ball out on time, whatever).  We all know the spectacular things he does like miracle escapes, great open field running, beautiful deep balls, etc.  What he hasn't been as successful at is the more "routine" plays a good NFL QB has to execute regularly.  Too often he's been slow in recognition & decision making, held the ball too long, and he still fumbles too often (though that does seem to be improving).

This probably can't be fixed no matter what, but Fields also has a naturally slower delivery.  Watch him carefully--his windup to throw is BIG.  Like a baseball player whose swing isn't as quick and compact as others.  Since his natural physical throwing motion is on the slower side, he really has to speed up his mental processing to accommodate that.  If you noticed, he tends to excel earlier in games when running the scripted plays that don't require as much "processing".  He's been at his worst in the 4th Q which unfortunately is when most close games are decided. 

Normally the last game of the season after being eliminated form the playoffs is pretty meaningless but this time I CARE A LOT.  I wanna see Fields put up another quality performance, win or lose.  That means 65+% compl rate, >200 yards passing, 2+ TDs, 0 Turnovers (lets say minimum 250 total yards including rushing).  This is NOT a good defense he's playing against Sunday.  

I want to feel comfortable in sticking with him for 2024 and right now I'm still ambivalent.

Same thing goes for Flus.  Flus needs to freakin' WIN THIS GAME and I don't want to hear any excuses for not doing so.  Yeah the team has won 6 of their last 8 or whatever but several of those were unimpressive wins vs backup QBs and/or crap teams.  He and Getsy were schooled week 1 vs GB so I want to see GROWTH there.  The team needs to look prepared and not thoroughly outcoached again.  If the Bears lose, especially if they lose again in embarrassing fashion, I will not feel good about keeping Flus.

WIN THE DAMN GAME

If Mahomes' QBR was in the basement like Fields then yes. As it is Mahomes is still in the top 10. Mahomes also has several SBs and doesn't have several years of mediocre tape.
