I think our two highest level of need in the upcoming offseason cycle are WR and the interior OL. If we can get MHJ, one of the top two or three centers and then a decent OG prospect, our offense should be in great shape for 2024. We may try to keep Patrick as a backup. I would like to see Whitehair retire as a Bear, but I feel his best days are well in the rear-view mirror. He has been a solid and loyal OL player for us over his 8 years with the Bears and deserves respect. But you can go from good to toast in the NFL quickly. And that is where Whitehair is right now.
I think we may have needs in the WR room. As the season has gone one, I have become less and less happy with Mooney. I have been hearing good things about a project WR that Poles signed to the practice squad. Collin Johnson was drafted by the Jaguars in 2021 (5th round). Don't bother looking for any RAS scores, combine or pro-day measurables. They do not exist. But he is 6'6" and weighed in at just over 220 his senior year at UT-Austin. His videos indicate he has a good vertical jump and makes difficult high point catches. He is reported to have a high 4.4s to low 4.5s 40 yd dash speed. His chief downside is a history of injuries. But he is one of those tweeners (TE/WR) who could be a real challenge for a DB to cover and who can block very effectively in the run game. Hopefully we get a chance to see him play.
Look at Tankathon draft order now. Its Bears-Commanders-Pats now 1-2-3.
Wash and NE are drafting QBs for sure...bank on it. Can trade down now to 3 and get MHJ + picks.
