I'm half way through watching the offensive All 22...so far some of you aren't gonna like what I have to say. I have some criticism for Fields in there...but there some issues. I'll wait to post all of my notes until I finish the game.
I'm pretty sure you will single out Oline blocking. It was horrendous.

It sure was. The blocking by RBs was poor too. Mooney is mailing it in and looks like he has no interest in being there.
I am watching the latest H&J right now and have been surprised by Hoge's critical film review of Fields. It was pretty darn negative and Hoge has been a steadfast Fields fanboy all along.
"Your QB can't just make 4 great plays a game and that's it"
Yep, that's the classic Fields we have seen for a long time now--he makes a few eye-popping plays and 90% of the rest is meh or worse.

BIG TIME!! I nearly broke my Ipad several times on Lucas Patrick alone!

I think this video is a pretty good summation of Fields in one play.
He doesn't throw the ball when he needs to throw the ball. Instead he drags out the play and then has to make some crazy throw to make up for his earlier mistake. This is why when people point to all his crazy scrambles an d off script stuff they often miss that he's in those situations because he's not doing the basics. If he would consistently just get the ball out when and where it needed to be you wouldn't need all this other crazy stuff.
Is it him, the coaching, both? I can't say for sure but he's been doing stuff like this his whole time here. At this point it just doesn't look fixable.

Nate Davis had a bad game too.
He wasn't great, but no where near as bad as Patrick! I'm almost done...have 1 or 2 drives left and these are gonna be some long notes. Its not gonna be pretty...lot of WTF!!! going on in there and a bunch of stuff I just didn't get the thought process of. Braxton Jones damn near gave me a heart attack on one play I couldn't believe how bad it was or that he was coached to do what he did.

I'd suggest you watch the All 22 of these games and you'll see how bad some of these route combo's and schemes are. I could say people that constantly point to his holding the ball too long often miss just how bad and unimaginative this pass game scheme is. The All 22 is GLARING!

I don't care about the bad route combos. I care about the plays Fields could make and doesn't. If he made all those plays, or even a majority of them, we could put this all on Getsy. But that's not the case, and it's been a continuing problem with Fields.
It's pretty clear the Browns didn't have some great game plan, or even very good play calling. Yet a 38 year old over-the-hill QB who was on his couch a month ago managed to get the job done despite throwing 3 INTs and getting sacked 4 times and pressured all game. I'm sorry but I don't think it's crazy to expect more from our supposed franchise QB.

Could you explain to me how bad route combos don't impact the plays Fields makes and doesn't make. I'd love to hear this.

In our bad games this year it seemed like it was a collection of mistakes and not where you could just point out one thing or one guy. But yeah, Patrick is just not good. All the OL seem to have some bad plays but I feel like guys like Wright and Jones will continue to get better. Guys like Patrick and Whitehair won't. Davis is not a bad player but he too has some rough plays this year (in some games more than others). But Davis seems like he at least has a baseline of talent.
