It is possible that Stevenson will be better next year, but ranking 16/19 among rookie CBs is not encouraging— to say the least. I want to add a CB as insurance. It is foolish to gamble on him as starting CB in 2024 with no alternative. I’m hoping for a good performance from T. Smith tonight.
He's a second round pick...he's not getting tossed aside after one season. I would say Smith is insurance for both Stevenson, who will be fine and has been playing pretty damn well lately despite your assertions, as well as for JJ.
He did play well against the Lions. I think Smith may be better than Stevenson. He will be interesting to watch tonight.
I think this would be the wrong move. I’m tired of the coach/GM carousel. Give these two a 3rd year to prove themselves
Mediocrity is ok in todays NFL?
I understand where jusnixx is coming from. On the flip side Your beloved Lions were terrible for a while with Campbell then it all clicked.
I would like to see it click soon. We are starting to see flashes of it I think. A missed kick here. Failed int there. It seems to be happening. I think we are all just used to failure so we are okay with not letting it all reset again because that is all we know.

It will be good to see a talent upgrade on offense too. We have the 2024 resources to fix the talent issue on offense. But the Bears need to show that they can get it done. But I agree with you that it's a number of things that contribute to the issues - especially on offense. They all add up to a broken offense that is hard to watch.

I'm still in on Poles...I don't think he needs to go. I can get on board with keeping Flus as long as the OC is gone, but I'm mostly ambivalent to him.
I think with Dexter showing flashes we saw how the DEF could be run (until the bend and break at the end when Flus went scared chicken play calling.) Poles is going to be safe, even Emery got 3 years as GM. Flus returning....it is what it will be. But Getsy needs to go.

The lions had a ton of high round picks and hit on a lot of them to get where they are today. Plus the fact, the NFC North isn't a powerhouse team it was a few years ago.
With poles you can make the argument that his guys are not placing the players in the best possible position to win the game. Which is true. Flus and Gesty need to go. Period on that. In year 2, I expect some improvements. Not just flashes here and there. 4-8 is unacceptable for how easy our schedule is. If Flus can win out the next few games. Maybe there is a debate he can stay. I just don't see it happening. We barely beat the Vikings who are missing a ton of star players. 12 points in the modern NFL is a joke.

Here is the thing, do you keep Flus around to then draft a QB? Then to fire Flus in year 1 of the new QB and force another HC to have to use this QB? If we're getting a new QB. We need a new HC to go with him. This cycle did not work with Trubisky and Fields. Let's not make the same mistake.
