Well that "guy" had the most sacks on that D Line, and his former team didn't have ONE sack today. Thats right...ZERO...ZIP...NADA!! The Commanders had ZERO sacks today.
That's great they had zero sacks. Could careless if they do get sacks. I do care about Mr 25 million.
Khalil Mack first game with us was legendary. Dude had very little practice compared to the rest of the team and dominated with strip sacks and a pick 6.
Mr 25 million couldn't even get a .5 sack? I expect better going against the panthers.
MOTM, could you maybe reign in the meatball hot takes a little?
Sweat barely got here, probably hasn't even unpacked his suitcases yet, and only had 2 practices before getting on the plane to New Orleans.
You really think its reasonable to expect him to dominate his very first game? With this garbage coaching staff and scheme?
Come on....that's pretty ridiculous. And no one is saying this guy is 2018 Mack level of player. Mack cost 2 1sts; Sweat cost one 2nd. The contract value for elite edge rushers is well above $25m and I posted the source for that info last week. You obviously didn't read it.
Oh and btw, Fangio >> Flus in terms of running a defense. You might want to reign in your expectations for Sweat at least until we get some new coaches.
Get used to the Bears "overpaying" as you put it. The Bears are a dumpster dive franchise. Bottom 5 of the NFL. No players are dying to come to a crap team with no clear future QB or HC in place.

That I'll have to stomach on but you're right. The solution is having a GM who can give us blue chip players on rookie deals or even great players on rookie deals. Are there any players as of now that Poles sign and they're must keeps outside of Wright?
Raiders just got rid of their GM and HC after one and half years. We can do that as well. A GM doesn't need to pick their second HC if they're doing a job poorly themselves.
LMAO!!!!! Dude...the guys in the top 4 are making way more than him. Many of the others signed deals way before him, so of course there's going to be an increase. Oh, and every one of those guys aside from Bosa is older than him. Sweat is one of the best edge defenders in the league...hands down. And you keep comparing him to Mack but ignore Macks extension was RECORD SETTING!!!!!!!!
As for you reddit link...those bozo's are saying they could have paid him, but the forgot the Commanders only have $16 mill in cap space next year.I don't think I'll take their word for anything.
Nice deflection. Doesn't change the fact he's top 5 which is elite money. He's not elite and has never had 10+ sacks in a single seasons. These two things are facts. I understand a lot of people don't want to really say that Poles got fleeced in his deal. Sweat took advantage of a young naïve GM and got elite money from him after trading away a top 40 pick.
No where in that comment that you replied to talked about Mack. I'm not trying to talk about Mack since its different times but Mack was more game changing on his first day than Mr 25 million was.
Also Cap space is just a number. How many times do we see a team in CAP hell get out of it? But that's besides the original comment on Sweat.
I did not deflect. I brought up Mack cause you have CONSTANTLY brought him up in comparison to Sweat. You like to complain about EVERYTHING, and I'm pretty sure you're the only one who thinks Poles got fleeced.

Just who I want the franchise to emulate...the Raiders...

Because keeping a failing GM on for multiple HC picks has worked for us in the past? When do we learn from our mistake?
My biggest concern with Sweat was he's coming from a Dline where he was "a guy" and now is on the Chicago Dline and is expected to be "the guy".
He was a bigger piece to that DL than people give him credit for. I looked at his stats with and without Chase, he's the same player — same production. The interior of Washington is better than Chicago's, but he was Edge №1 with the Commanders.
I'm late to the party. I see 14 pages? Yeah, there's definitely some controversy here. 😂
I, for one, am absolutely pumped about Sweat. The more I argue with ppl on Twitter, the more information I find, the more excited I am to have Sweat on the team.
If I had to grade the trade/contract, it's a B. The only thing bringing it down is that 2nd round pick. That's the cost of exclusive discussion with the player you want. Luckily Poles has managed the cap & draft picks as well as he has.
Sweat looks like a force multiplier I can't wait to see his impact on Yannick, Walker, and the rookie DTs.
Well, it was only his first game with a new team with limited practice, but he didn't look all that impressive. Yet. Thursday should give us a better feel. I expect he'll do much better.
It was a modest debut, clearly he's not the pass rusher Mack was, but not many players are the pass rusher Mack was in his prime.
He did provide a glimpse of what he could be in a more limited* role.
Edit: I say limited* bc he's shown to be capable playing upwards to 82% of defensive snaps while in DC. He only played 65% in his debut. Will Eberflus and co keep his snap count like this for the rest of the season, like he seems to do with all of his DL? That's a good and irritating question. I would guess yes given the friggin OL rotations we see and are, more likely than not, unnecessary.

Nor did he cost what Mack did to come to Chicago, in trade or cap. Mack crushed the Chicago draft and cap space. Sweat did neither.
