2nd Sweat or 3rd Chase

Of course I'm going to mention his salary. He's getting paid top 5 for pass rushers. That's elite level money there.

We're paying elite money to a guy who has never hit 10+ sacks in a single season. That's insane. I could stomach 20 million since he would be at 11. But top 5 money for a guy who never or isn't elite isn't worth it. Like I said, if his performance continues to be this bad going into the Panthers game. Then we have a problem. Sweats won in this deal. Poles panic and overspent on both picks and cap money. 

As someone who likes to read other football teams posts when things like this happen to get their perspective on things.

Most here making fun of Bears for overpaying top 40 2nd round pick for a good edge rusher that isn't elite. Sometimes it is nice to take the fanboy glasses off and get a reality check from time to time. 

Nice deflection. Doesn't change the fact he's top 5 which is elite money. He's not elite and has never had 10+ sacks in a single seasons. These two things are facts. I understand a lot of people don't want to really say that Poles got fleeced in his deal. Sweat took advantage of a young naïve GM and got elite money from him after trading away a top 40 pick. 

No where in that comment that you replied to talked about Mack. I'm not trying to talk about Mack since its different times but Mack was more game changing on his first day
than Mr 25 million was. 

Also Cap space is just a number. How many times do we see a team in CAP hell get out of it? But that's besides the original comment on Sweat. 

I'm really hoping Sweat works out since we're paying him elite money. So hopefully he does turn into a consistent pass rusher. He's no Young. Young had a 24% percentage of beating the blocker. 

No one is saying Sweat isn't a good player. He is a good player. Elite though, he's nowhere close to that. Young has a higher ceiling of getting to that level imo. 

At the end of the day. He is a Bear and I'm going to root for a 10+ sack season for him but when he isn't playing up to his contract. I'm going to call him out on it.

I'm more of a fan of keeping picks since Flus future isn't for sure. Who's to say the new HC/DC will use Sweat the way we're using him now and wants a different scheme? Again Sweat isn't bad by any means. He is OVERPAID for what he brings to the table. Just hope he can become a 10+ sack player that this team really needs.
