If he can't grip the ball he will have to. Hopefully doesn't require surgery, but I'm guessing at least 2 games.
I really don't care. It's that bad.
If Bagent starts every remaining game I'm ok with that too. I've seen enough with Justin to know he's not the guy going forward even if technically he "gives us the best chance to win".

I would like to see Bagent start a game after a week practicing with the #1's. I'm not saying he's an answer to anything. But I did like how he seemed to process the field and get the ball out quickly. At the very least he looks like he could be a good backup QB. Maybe even more... I know that's a long shot to the max but you never know, right?
I did go back and read his pre-draft profile (LINK). It was interesting. One weakness jumped out because I thought I saw it a bit today, "Footwork and ball placement fall apart when he starts rushing throws." With the pass rush today he had to rush his throws though.

I'm with ya, JABF. I'd like to see Bagent get a good look. I doubt he will become anything beyond maybe a solid backup but even that is a win for a UDFA camp arm guy. We are in tank mode now anyway (they won't say that of course but we are) so give him a shot.
As for Fields, you're correct that there are explanations virtually every week but eventually a franchise QB has to be able to elevate and overcome. For example, it's undeniably true that he's had plenty of games with leaky pass pro, substandard receiving weapons, and questionable play calling.
But holy crap man at some point you gotta show you're special and he just hasn't been able to do it. This is 2019 all over again with a 3rd year QB who's falling on his face in a season where he was expected to have a breakout year.
Don't be shocked if we make a trade or two by the deadline. Eddie Jackson would be at the top of my list. And yes I'm listening to offers for Fields. I'm done with him as a "future" QB.

Jackson has, pretty much, been a failure after that hefty renew. So, yes please get that contract off books.
Remember that anyone you trade now needs to be replaced as a starter/ If you trade Jackson you are drafting a S early, maybe the first if they trade down. If you trade Johnson you are drafting a CB early (2nd round most likely). I know we all want to draft OFF from now until 2028, but if you trade these guys you have to replace them either in the draft or with subpar talent in FA that you overpay for.

We need to be careful what we wish for.
I think that is an excellent point. We have enough holes on this roster without creating more holes.
