The game isn’t played on paper. Players with exceptional talent like Butkus and Sayers on the 1965 team can excel even on a poor team. There are not many of that caliber around, and certainly not for 95% of the “meh” players Poles brought in. All others will perform at a higher level on a good team than on a bad team.
Again, you can't say with a straight face Poles didn't bring in proven talent or be considered serious if you do.
And you are ignoring/missing my point. Talent proven on Team “A” doesn’t necessarily manifest on Team “B” if the player is not himself an exceptional talent or had his performance enhanced by a star player on Team”A” (e.g., Mahomes) where no such star exists on Team “B” to support his performance. I am not defending Eberflus, but it is no easy task to make something out of Poles collection of mostly mediocre players. As you know, if you have poor players at 3 or 4 positions on offense/defense, it drags down the performance of the rest of the unit, talent levels notwithstanding.

Every single player he brought in from FA have been a bust so far. He overpayed for two LBs while he could of pay Roquan Smith his money to have much better performance. He refused to address the lines on both offense and defense.
Outside of DJ Moore which we traded the #1 overall pick for. Has poles made any improvements to the roster in 2 years?
I can't see your face to see if its straight or not...so I'm only left with "you're not serious". We'll ignore the fact that he signed an offensive lineman and drafted another with the 10th pick, and signed 3 defensive lineman and drafted two others...but sure...didn't address the line.
Like I said...you can't be considered serious if you can't admit this is a better roster than two years ago. They haven't performed, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it is a more talented roster. Go ahead...twist yourself into knots trying to say otherwise.

I'm not missing your point. You're making mine. Its the COACHES JOB to make talent work. By the way...no team has exceptional players EVERYWHERE. And if Flus can't make it work with these "mediocre players" according to you...how the hell did they look better when calling them mediocre would have been a compliment? Explain that one away.

You don’t have exceptional players everywhere, but they can raise the performance of other players on the team. There is a scarcity of exceptional players on the Poles roster, and that’s why some players did better before coming to the Bears. There’s not much Eberflus can do about that. However, it is his job to make the best of what Poles gave him to work with, which in my opinion, isn’t nearly enough to field a competitive team.

When you need the whole line replaced but only draft one guy and refuse to spend big money on big names but then buy two expensive line backers who have done nothing so far but waste cap space.
If you look at this team last year and now. Outside of WR (DJ Moore). We are a worse team in every position.

How then do you explain the team looking better with worse players last year than...if its not on Flus or much he can do about it? He had LESS to work with last year and that team was at the least competitive.

You didn't need the whole line replaced and that was never a remote possibility. You are not serious, whatsoever. There is NO WORLD that exists where this team is WORSE at every position than last years team. Thats an absolutely RIDICULOUS statement.

I don’t have an explanation for that. Do you? Eberflus is the same coach this year as he was last year. But something has happened to this team. In any case, it’s the coach’s job to keep the team “culture “ from degenerating. When one of your WR starters admits he doesn’t know the playbook and he STILL plays for a coach who preaches HITS, that sends a loud message to the rest of the team.
I don't disagree but at the same time. You have a young QB who looked promising, refused to really give him much help and shocked that he's still struggling?
To me, whats happening with Fields this season is beyond "no help". There is more talent on the offense than there was last year...by a lot. This is a coaching letdown of the highest degree. I don't understand much of anything they're doing on offense at all.
It's an all-of-the-above kind of failure IMO.
No question these clown college coaches are massively underperforming with the resources at their disposal.
There's also not much doubt left that Fields has serious weaknesses as a passer and NFL defenses are exposing them easily.
