When you need the whole line replaced but only draft one guy and refuse to spend big money on big names but then buy two expensive line backers who have done nothing so far but waste cap space.
If you look at this team last year and now. Outside of WR (DJ Moore). We are a worse team in every position.
You didn't need the whole line replaced and that was never a remote possibility. You are not serious, whatsoever. There is NO WORLD that exists where this team is WORSE at every position than last years team. Thats an absolutely RIDICULOUS statement.

We are seeing an epic failure by a coaching staff. Once this has been corrected, a review of all the folks currently on the roster will be the first thing done and there will be changes. But a number of the new acquisitions look like they possess real NFL level talent. At least it looks that way to me.

Chuck that is exactly how I see it also. I'm not saying there is great talent here. But there is more talent than what these coaches are getting out of the players. We have all said many times that 2024 needs to be a year where the Bears add a boatload of talent - with two 1st round draft picks and a total of 10 draft picks AND ALSO plenty of cap money to spend. We understand that the team isn't "built" yet. But obviously the coaches have failed pitifully to work with the talent brought in - in 2022 and 2023. The team is getting worse instead of better.
And no coach gets perfect talent. Sure, you need more than what we have - that's what 2024 is all about. But this coaching staff does have more talent than what we see showcased on gamedays now.
How then do you explain the team looking better with worse players last year than...if its not on Flus or much he can do about it? He had LESS to work with last year and that team was at the least competitive.
I don’t have an explanation for that. Do you? Eberflus is the same coach this year as he was last year. But something has happened to this team. In any case, it’s the coach’s job to keep the team “culture “ from degenerating. When one of your WR starters admits he doesn’t know the playbook and he STILL plays for a coach who preaches HITS, that sends a loud message to the rest of the team.
So then you agree, this is a pretty big coaching issue. Glad we've finally come around to that.
To me, whats happening with Fields this season is beyond "no help". There is more talent on the offense than there was last year...by a lot. This is a coaching letdown of the highest degree. I don't understand much of anything they're doing on offense at all.
It's an all-of-the-above kind of failure IMO.
No question these clown college coaches are massively underperforming with the resources at their disposal.
There's also not much doubt left that Fields has serious weaknesses as a passer and NFL defenses are exposing them easily.
Neither seems to have an answer.
Fields has issues, no doubt. But his coaches are leaving him out to dry by not game planning for what he's good at. Does Fields need to get better at things? Absolutely...but if this staff wants to keep their jobs they better get their heads out of their asses...cause you can win games with Fields and this offensive talent, but not when you game plan like a moron.

Guys not knowing what to do is on the coaches. Yes, players have some accountability, but at the end of the day the coaches need to figure out a way to get the best out of these guys and put them in positions to succeed. They're not doing it. Fields showed you last year what he can do when you call an offense to his strength's. Now imagine what that could be like with a receiver like DJ Moore? I saw a graphic today where the Bears are one of the lowest in the league in pre-snap motion before a play. You know who the highest in the league are? Miami...by a long shot! Then its the Rams, Lions, Chargers, 49ers, and Packers. Hmmmmm....what do all those teams have in common? Dynamic friggen offense!!! Creative play callers who scheme their players into positions of success!!! Surprisingly the Eagles rank last...but they have two dudes at receiver who can beat anybody straight up and an offensive line who can protect their QB and bludgeon people in the run game...they don't need to motion anybody. Flus' defense is the WORST in the league...and he's a defensive guy. He doesn't blitz, he doesn't run stunts, he doesn't run any games...and his 4 man rush is the WORST IN THE LEAGUE!!!
I know Fields isn't perfect. I know the team isn't full of studs. But you can't tell me the talent on this team isn't better than what its showed. That is an indictment on coaches. The problem with all of this is I have no problem with these coaches being shown the door after this season. But then I worry Fields is on his 3rd HC...his whatever many OC, and I just think that might be too much of a task for him. Technically if we move on from him, that would be the case anyway...and I'd be willing to bet a lot he'll find success in whatever other place he goes.

It is not a single factor. Poles “rebuild” is the WORST of any GM in Bears history, and it’s not ALL caused by the coaches. We only agree that coaching is PART of the problem. Poles has far more failures than successes, in his roster decisions, and that’s the primary reason this Bears team is far worse than any I can remember. Certainly true, statistically. No Bears team has ever lost 13 in a row. Poles must go.

You're literally providing no evidence for your argument. Poles job is to provide talent. He's done that. This team has MORE TALENT than last years team. You can try to argue they don't, but there is no possible way you could actually prove that.

Their record says otherwise, as well as their stats. The O is scoring less points and the Def is the worst in the league in just about every category. The best you can say, is that on paper this team has more talent, but if it's not showing it on the field, then the stuff on paper can be put in the office bin b/c none of that matters.
Problem is so much of the talent is hurt, seems to have been since summer. Bigger question is who is the teams strength and conditioning coach, and has he done something that has created a wide spread issue. Hard to know what this team could be when every DB and a good portion of the OL is injured.
Regardless, the team is what the record says, equal to worse then last years.

+1 I can't get my head around the fact that the coaches (Eberflus and Getsy) continue to fail to play to the players' strengths. I can understand if a first-time HC and OC (like ours) make mistakes initially. In fact mistakes are to be expected. But to not set up your players to be successful is not something that any coach - even rookie coaches - should make. That is so basic. How on earth do you whiff in THAT area? We are 3 games in on this season. How can you go 3 entire GAMES without adjusting to your players' strengths? I don't think you can cure a coach that isn't able to adjust or learn from mistakes. It's a critical failure.
Flus and crew. I didn't see the game, but from what I'm reading here, it's mostly the coaches. Yes, Fields stunk up the field, but who put him in that position with bad gameplanning and calling?
Flus & Crew need to go ASAP, and Fields need to be replaced. Maybe sit him as #2 next year if we can get a #1?
