At least we are drafting guys at OL, and guys that fit the "plan" now. way too many injuries for the OL to play well. 3 of 5 just got here. Whitehair (hope that's how it's spelled) looks like a great zone/ pulling G even if his power game is still ???s
There is a serious issue for OL coming out of the spread offense programs. These guys do not play any sort of power game. It is all speed and athleticism. I'm sure that was the root of Grasu's issues last year and I expect Whitehair will have his share this year.
Agreed chuck. Many of the OT and OG draft picks from the last few years have struggled to make the transition from those spread offenses. Whitehair may experience some issues early on as well but from what Goldman has said he's country boy strong and once he gets a grip on you you're blocked and you'll stay blocked. I've seen him make a couple of downfield "decleaters" so far too.
Fortunately the zone scheme they'll run depends far less on raw power than is does on quickness and coordination so hopefully our draft picks will adapt to it quicker than a power scheme.
Do anyone think, with Jay's guaranteed money up and his contract is actually reasonable for QBS nowadays, that he is tradeable?
Nothing crazy in value, but is he worth something? I'd be super pissed if my team traded a bag of footballs for Jay now, but all it takes is one.
Tradeable yes but why would they want to when we have no one to replace him? He's actually getting cheaper to keep because his salary is going down ($15mil/2017 and $16mil/2018) when others are going up and the day of the $25 mil a year QB is nearly here. On that basis alone I think quite a few teams would love to have him as a starter.

I agree with this now. It just makes sense to hold onto Cutler.
